Another laser cut kit from Germany. Travelling around Europe over the last year - Norway, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, France and the Netherlands - I began to notice a similarity amongst the architecture between the various countries. In Germany and France for example I found thatched cottages that would not look out of place in an English village.
Each country lends influences to one another. OK this is a long winded apology for building a German house kit and ultimately passing it off as Norwegian. The kit retails for about $40 but I was able to pick it up for £15 from Gaugemaster. It is Artikel nr: 008 - Siedlungshaus Eisenheim from WS-LaserCut.

The windows and doors are laser cut card engraved on one side. I have glazed them by placing them carefully on a sheet of acetate. I use Deluxe Materials Glue 'n Glaze so if any glue does show it is almost unseen.

Here are the four main walls. All the brick is engraved into the self-coloured card. The corners of each have little teeth that interlock with the neighbouring wall - Neat.

The base or foundation of the house is made of two pieces of card which I have carefully aligned. Afterwards I cut out the windows from the acetate sheet.

Continuing..........I glued the walls to the foundation. The corners interlink cleverly with each other.

The bottom course is applied once again interlinking at the corners.

PS Has anyone noticed that I have a new cutting mat and my desk looks a lot tidier. Since I am now a retard and sold my business, I can use my study/office for modelling and Mrs C gets back her dining room. Huh we may have to invite folks around for dinner........
Its coming along nicely, that pattern can really play tricks on the eyes if you stare at it long enough.
The new pad reminds me, I need to find mine. ;D

Here are the dormers fitted to the roof. They are than a bit fiddly. I have put blinds behind all the windows. The roofs of the dormers are in two halves. To get them to glue correctly on the roofs I have added a piece of white paper to the underside to join them. :-\

I used a brown paper bag cut in strips to add flashing to the dormer roofs and around the chimneys.

Good idea on the flashing, will you be adding tar to seal up the seams?
