I placed a bid on this Oriental Limited CB&Q O1A just to see how high it would go. No one else bid and I got it for about $300. Another one on at the same time (remotored and with DCC) went for $1100. :o The paint is OK, not great, and the tender herald is the wrong size, but it's a bargain, and it runs smoothly. An unpainted one just sold recently on brasstrains.com for $425. It's weird that these come up so rarely, and then two or three will appear in a few days. Now I just have to figure out how to put a decoder in it.

Surely there are better ways to aggravate yourself than that....
Maybe I should go back and take a look at eBay too now that I don't drink Jack Daniel's anymore.
Bet that Erie steamer that looked "so good" wouldn't get a glance now.
Jeff,
Great find and price as well. You were very fortunate to get this one for the price.
Ortl. came out with three versions of this 2-8-2 Mikado. In 1979, Ortl came out with their first steam loco, it was the CB&Q model with the Worthington Feedwater Heater.
In 1982 Ortl came out with one Factory Painted with the WFH and sold retail for $272.00. The other versions were unpainted brass. Yours is obviously custom painted and even adds to the great price you paid.
Just some history for your loco and purchase.
