Title: What type of sound decoder is this?
Post by: Zephyrus52246 on February 23, 2019, 05:36:37 PM
I got brave today and disassembled a brass locomotive.   :o I had bought this off ebay last year.  Decoder Pro and my command station (NCE) say it's an NCE decoder.  But I don't remember NCE making sound decoders.  Also there's two decoders one in the loco and one in the tender.  The one in the tender is the sound decoder.  There's a marking SND 45 (Soundtraxx?) , and I wasn't tearing it from the foam tape to see the other side.  It could be an original sound decoder from 20 years ago. It sounds OK, but I'm not enamored with the whistle, but I can live with it.  I managed to get the thing back together, and it actually runs!  I was sure I'd break/lose something doing this.   ::)

Jeff,

Sounds like, er, I mean looks like you have an early version of an MRC decoder with a sound decoder added to the tender.
