Does anybody know this building on FSM at Bedford Falls? I'm looking for those walls or Kit if it is one? Thanks Dennis
I can't tell if thats metal castings or block by block scratchbuild.....
They are definitely metal castings. Not sure what kit it is from though.

Hey Frank:
I'd say you are right. Not sure where they are from either.

Wilikers?
It looks like a match - I have that build on my short list.
Hey Guys:
Just talked to George And he said he used cut down end Wales from Chippy Hollow Hardware. He said pipe in the middle hides the seam.
Karl
Hey Guys:
Just talked to George again. After seeing the photo of G Wiliker's we decided that's what the wall was made from. Door was cut off off two walls & then joined. Again the pipe in center covers the seam.
Karl
Hi Guys, You guys are amazing. This is the right place thanks to you all. Dennis :)
I had a long discussion with George a few years back about how he made the original walls for all the different varieties of stone walls in both his kits and on the FSM. He did a block by block build-up to make the original masters. Then made molds for the castings that we bought with our kits. He told me some of the originals were used on the F&SM. Jimmy has all the molds so I hope to see many of these beautiful castings available again for our scratch building pleasure. I have made molds of some of them from the kits I have purchased - just to make a few parts for a scratch build this is a very expensive way to go. I will be buying mine from Jimmy as he make them available. ;) Jimmy I check your web page every week! ;D
I Emailed Jimmy this morning, And he states this spring ;D I bought 10 kits from George but believe it or not only My fox Run has a wall casting only lol. Thanks John.

I would urge everyone to try making their own wall castings using this block by block method. Roger gives a great tutorial here:

And Karl O. has a good one over at the Railroad Line Forums.
It is not complicated to do and it gives you the opportunity to have unique structures on your layout.

Thanks Matt, I'm trying that right now. I made the molds yesterday and I'm trying karl's technic also. The clay is drying on counter. I got the air dried one not the oven clay. Dennis
Hey Matt:
Glad we could help[.
Karl
Great Bunch of guys here. Everyone one of you modeler's are awesome encyclopedia of knowledge here. I appreciate everyone one of you....Dennis
I bought clay from hobby lobby and its not working, Just crumbles :'( must be a cheap brand or its not cured right? Sculpy clay next for me.
Definitely use Sculpy. And don't forget to empress some texture into the surface such as Karl does in his clinic. It makes a big difference.
Matt
