An 1:48 Scale kit made by McKenzie Iron & Steel Co.
I have the bed done. And most of the hoist. The hoist can't be finished until the Fordson tractor is done which I'm working on now.
This is were I'm at now.
Comments always welcomed.
Jerry,
I love to see how much more detail is possible when working on O scale. Impressive looking hoist. I like the patina on the parts and the subtle rusted areas. Are you planning to weather the wood frame at some point?
Jerry,
I agree with Jerry, very well done with the rust and patina. Weathering the frame would really set the model off.
Tom ;D
Thanks Jerry its appreciated.
Tom glad you stopped by always a pleasure to see you post.
Yes there will be some weathering on the wood after I get all the other components done.
Once again thanks for the compliments.
Jerry
Not a lot of progress but the Fair Leader is done.
And these are the parts blacken for the Fordson which I'm working on now!
Jerry,
That's kind of a tease, showing parts and keeping us in suspense. Don't worry, I'm still peeking over your shoulder.
Thanks Jerry. Keep looking I'm bound to get back to the bench...
Life got in the way of the Fordson but I hope to have an update by the weekend!!
Jerry
Hey Jerry:
Looks great so far. I'll be following along.
Karl
Thanks Karl glad to have you follow along.
Slow progress right now as life has been getting in the way of building.
Did I say life or wife!! :)
Jerry
A quick update on the Fordson.
Its not painted yet or aligned but its gives you an idea on how it goes.
There are still small detail parts to be added after its painted.
The gray on the hood and radiator is the gray it will be painted.
Comments always welcome.
Jerry
Jerry,
I've seen lots of Fordson conversions, but never one of these. Cannot wait to see that gray paint go on and the tractor part take shape. I love the amount of detail possible in O scale.
hey Jerry:
WOW!!!!! what beautiful detal. Great job on the model.
Karl
Jerry good to see you looking in its appreciated. Yes it different guess that's why I wanted to build it.
Karl thanks for the compliment.
Jerry
That is VERY nice work. Love this kind of stuff.
John
Fantastic work! This is going to be a very cool detail.
Looking good. Nice detail in that kit.
Jaime
John (Cuse) thanks very much for the nice comment.
John always glad to have you stop by with a nice compliment.
Jaime thanks glad you like the kit it is different for sure.
Jerry
Yes its painted. And mostly weathered.
Comments are welcome!
Jerry, that is a beautifully modeled piece of vintage machinery. It has wonderful visual interest and your detailing work is top notch.
Thanks for sharing!

Jerry,
As you might guess I'm a little partial to anything that has a tractor. This is coming along nicely, looking forward to seeing the remaining gear drive parts in place. I would suggest a little light brown staining on the top of the tank around the fuel filler cap. Leaded gasoline left that residue when any was spilled when refueling. Two thumbs way up!
Beautiful modeling Jerry.
Thanks George for such a nice compliment.
Jerry I thought you'd like the tractor I will take your advice on the gas tank.
Yes there is a lot left in hooking up the tractor to the hoist.
Curt thanks for the nice compliment.
Jerry
The latest on the "Tugger".
It is all glued together detail parts added. The only thing missing right now is the drive chain.
You ask why? Because the chain supplied does not fit the sprockets! If you look you can see the drive wheel on the hoist is different than the teeth on the tractor.
But I have gotten ideas to fix the problem.
Comments always welcome.
Nice weathering and painting, as well as seeing all of the parts in their correct placement ! ;)
Will you be adding other tools and details to this model? And if you decide to place this outside of your new
machine shop, will it be visible or in the weeds? Great job all around.
Rich
Hey Jerry:
WOW!!!!! very cool. I love what you did with it.
Karl
Jerry,
That's a very interesting piece of machinery. I like the foot brake to hold the load while engaging and disengaging the drive. The levers for engaging and disengaging the drive clutches are well represented. It seems like a well designed kit except it is disappointing that the manufacturer supplied drive sprockets with different tooth pitch. I'll be interested to see how you solve that issue. I like how the weathering is subtle, the hoist and power unit look used while well maintained. I don't see the exhaust on the right side of the Fordson's motor. I would expect to see it going up past the side of the hood. Am I missing something? Downside exhaust maybe, but I don't see that in the photo either.
Very cool! 8) OSHA approved too I'm sure. ;D
That is very very nice!! Truly inspired work! So much detail packed into a little space.
Thanks Rich always good to have you on board. Yes some tools and oil & grease cans. No it will not be in the grass but on a shelf for now!!
Karl thanks for the nice compliment.
Jerry the tractor man thanks for the comment its really appreciated. Now for your questions I didn't put the exhaust on yet I was afraid it would get in the way of trying to put the chain on its a downdraft.
From what I've seen and people I know who have done this kit. You super glue the chain on top of the sprockets and do a heavy grease layer to hid the fact its not on top!!
Darryl thank you very much. It is a cool little kit.
Jerry
Bob I'm sorry I missed your post. Thanks for the compliment.
Jerry
Beautifully done, Jerry! --George
Jerry,
This is such a beautiful little hoist. The entire machinery looks so realistic. When the oil, grease and other details are added it will be fantastic.
I love it all.
Tom ;D
George & Tom sorry I missed your posts.
Thanks you very much for the nice compliments always good to hear nice things from your fellow molders.
