Post by: hairball on April 10, 2020, 12:20:38 AM
I scratch built this white painted clapboard buttressed church in O scale.

Shingles are real wood veneer made from birch as it cuts easily and colors fantastic .

Hey Hairball:

Very nicely done. Don't see many churches get built.

I am not sure why I decided to build a church but I think somebody wanted me to build one for them for their layout in NY state.  I ended up producing 4 more with various roof coverings.

Was going thru all kinds of churches pictures online saving ones I thought were really neat that I could do in wood.  Believe this church sits on top of a cliff around san simeon California ?  I already had the windows ( grandt line ) and doors in stock , the clapboard AGED 3/32 spacing from northeastern.  3 shades of floquil white were used to colour the structure and make it weathered by still nice.  The upper bell tower vents were from Michael ? in Ohio, who produced a lot of great resin parts.  I used B I S raised seam roofing on the top of the pitched roof coloured using Fiebings USMC black leather dye mixed with isopropinal 99% pure 1% water so no warping.

Thank you guys for your comments
