Hi everyone.
I finished Sierra West Morton's Foundry last night. Here are some pictures of the completed scene, ready to be installed on the layout. All the details are included with the kit and I followed the instructions pretty closely.

This is the backside of the scene. It won't really be visible when placed on the layout so I didn't go crazy with the details.

Lots of cool detail in this scene. The boxes represent mold boxes for the parts the foundry manufactures.

Thanks for checking out my work.
Excellent job Steve.....I have this on my add to stash list, after seeing yours, I need to move it to the top of the list. 8)
Thanks Greg. It's a great kit, lots of fun to build.
Absolutely stunning work to a wonderful kit. I also have it in HO and should move it to the top of the pile as well.
Beautiful modeling, Greg. Your colors and attention to detail are all over that model. Makes me want to build one for myself.
Steve
Fantastic work! It's all about the details and you nailed it. This is going to be a wonderful addition to your layout.
Beautiful work, Steve!
I really enjoyed taking in all that eye candy. Its a lovely kit and you've done a great job with it.
Cheers, Mark.
Hi Steve, Did the kit come with all those casting's? Dennis
Thanks everyone!
Dennis, everything you see here is from the kit. I actually have quite a few castings left over and a good amount of stripwood. The castings are super high quality also. Little to no flash, super crisp and clean. Most of the parts that represent metal are white metal, many of the other castings are resin or a combination of both. The stacks of empty boxes are laser cut wood.

I gobbled up Brett's Brass Foundry and O'Neills based on this alone! Must buys, Dennis.
Hi Craig, I just bought Sierra West Morton's Foundry. But don't see a Bret's. Dennis
Everything looks spectacular.
Spectacular, Steve. Truly gorgeous. I always love the skill with which you paint the details. Great stuff.
Nice photography, too, BTW. All-around great post.
Thanks for sharing.

Brett Gallant is the designer/owner of Sierra West.
Brass Foundry and O'Neills Fabrication are two of his kits that I bought a couple months ago.
Vinceg — I'm seeing your signature just fine.
Thanks, Craig - I see it now, too. I just went in and resaved my profile. Perhaps that did something.
Or, perhaps I just need to be drug tested.
Wait, holiday cheer - that's it...yeah.
BTW, I also have O'Neills and the Foundry. Probably like many others, I'm waiting to see what Brett does with the Riverfront that he has been teasing for quite a while, now. Might be a good reason to design a special super-diorama into my layout.
I, too, have been sitting on my kits in wait for the Riverfront kit! Hopefully Q1.
Thanks Craig. I see now....Dennis
Absolutely fantastic modeling and great photo's too, thanks for sharing.
Steve,
Exceptional modeling !
That's a true work of art...and the photos of your build are beautiful.
Tommy
Thanks for all the positive feedback guys! I really appreciate it.
I built O'Neills a few years ago it's also a really great kit. Lots of fun and loaded with details.

I'm a huge fan of SierraWest kits. I think Brett is making some of the best kits out there right now. The castings, the fitment of all the parts and the overall research and design of the kit really make a great model when everything is done. Minimal frustration too even when working with very small complicated sub-assemblies.
Thanks for sharing, Steve. Fantastic modeling. I also like the style that you have modeled, looks well used and weathered, but not decrepit, just like a working foundry would be. Also just enough, but not too much clutter, so workers are able to get around without falling flat on their face every second step. Your craftsmanship is stunning, and I will bookmark this thread for when I get around to build my copy (too much real work and not enough modeling).
How about a few well placed figures to bring it to life?
Urs
Steve glad to see your latest project.
Wonderful modeling and your detail work very convincing color wise perfect.
Always a pleasure to see you work.
Jerry
I think all the superlatives that I would add have been used. I'm gobsmacked!
A piece of art. Bravo
Eric
Thanks again everyone for the positive feedback. I'll definitely be adding some figures and vehicles once I install it on the layout.
Beautiful work Steve! It really has the look & feel of an old foundry that's still in use. Thanks for sharing the pics!
Thanks Mark
Hey Steve:
WOW!!!!! that is just gorgeous.
Karl
Thanks Karl
Hello Steve, you did your usual great job with the kit. Those Sierra West kits are on another level from all the others. This one will look great when it is placed on your layout with all of the other excellent structures you have built. Jeff
