Well I had an open space on my P&WV and Popovich Pipe looked like it would fit the spot nicely. Besides my sister in laws maiden name was Popovich and her dad worked in a steel plant. The box that the kit came in. .(//)
The interior contents and the kits finished pict(//)ure that was included.
Wall section of office building. NOTE. All of the contents of each building are individually packaged. This helped to keep each section together.
This is the future space of the new pipe company. I had to remove the existing hand laid rail and move it about 1" toward the front of the layout to make enough room for the kit to fit.
The office building was the first subassembly that I took on. I used Floquil reefer yellow thinned with laquer thinner. I installed nail holes in the siding. The window where painted flat white. The building went together easily and the fit was perfect. For the roof I substituted Builders in Scale rolled roofing . The hard part was the window awning . It was not easy trying to get them to glue to the siding and keep square.
Side view of the office
Other side of office. The small boiler house building will be in the open wall area later
This was the second part that I built. I just built all the subassemblies per the instructions. The doors are in about 4 self stick pieces. The roof jacks are of a cardboard on the roof. They were not fun. I only got three to go together right. I added nut bolt washer casting to the crane runway to anchor it to the building.
This was the next small building. It sits on a loading dock on the rear of the complex. You will not even see it on the model except a very small section of the roof.
I call this the fab shop. This is the front view, This also went together well. The resin walls were the first for me to work with. They are brittle and I cracked one. A little epoxy and it was fixed. I used red primer and then Polly Scle different reds and some craft paint reds to mke up the difference. A wash of Hunter Line stain (Creosote) was applied to the walls. I made a new cap out of styrene for the brick office addition . The roof needed some equipment. I used some from Walthers Roof to detail package.
Building stacked together . Trying to see how they will look on the layout.
The location on the layout between Bridgeville Brick and Universal Steel Co,
Front of the overhead crane. The crane still need some weathering and I may add some electric wiring to power the crane. That's all for now I will post when I get some more finished.

Tom,
Great location for Popovich Pipe Co. The structure looks fantastic and you did a great job capturing the feel of the scene as well. Again, great job!
Enjoyed out visit the other day!
Tom ;D
Thanks Tom, I too enjoyed the visit. I can't wait to put the final touches on this with all the pipe. After I finish this I am going to make some loads of pipe for some of my gondola cars.
Thanks again
Tom
Tom
Great build! I'm enjoying the thread - thanks for sharing.
Hi Tom W.
Looks really great. Cant wait to see it finished.
Karl
Nice build Tom, I'll be watching for those final touches.....
Great stuff.
Thanx
Bob
Hi Tom:
Looks great on the layout. The crane is taking shape. Need more photos.
Karl
Good Morning Tom,
Awesome build. Thanks for sharing.
Tom,
Any updates? Inquiring minds and and all that!
Tom ;D
Now for some pictures of the rear of the building. Now one but you looking at the pictures will ever see the rear of the building.
I have installed the building into the layout.I decided to add another overhead crane from Walthers to the scene. I still have some additional work on the new crane. I have to weather the scenery a little . This will give you an idea how the scene is taking place.
More pics
Tom,
Looks fantastic, great job.
Tom ;D
Hi:
Yeah what Tom said.
Karl
Nice work, the lettered sign on the rusty fence really makes the scene.
Jeff
I still have to put weeds around the fence and small details. Thanks for the complements.
Tom
Looking good Tom.....
Great scene! Good job! I know the crane attached to the structure is kit. But is that large, separate, overhead crane a part of the kit, or is that your creation?

That kit is a Walthers kit. I did shorten it to fit the space. My back story is that Popovichs old building crane has out lived its usefulness and Popovich has invested in a new crane.( My sister in law's family is Popovich and her late dad worked at Alleghany Ludum Steel. When this kit came out I really liked it and it fit into my theme on my layout naming buildings after friends.)

Hi Tom W:
WOW!! That is turning out ver nicely.
Karl
Final pictures. I toned down the road way with a wash of raw umber . I also added some grey slate material i got from a coal boney pile under the big crane. I lightly weathered the big crane as I wanted it to look new compared to the old wooden one. Additional detail were added. On to the next build. Tom
Hi Tom. Great build and an interesting industrial site. I can just imagine all the differing types of RR cars picking up or dropping off raw materials used at this location. Great ops opportunity.
Dick
Tom...
Pretty cool...
thanx
Bob
That came together beautifully Tom.....can't wait to see it up close and personal.
Hi Tom:
Very very nicely done. Looks beautiful.
Karl
Tom,
Fantastic! You have it in the perfect spot.
Tom ;D
Looks great Tom!
John
