Drywall people coming today and the job will probably take a couple of days. Need to take Dad to the bank and credit union today. Hopefully I'll be back to layout work next week ;D.

A belated hello to everyone. The missus and I just got back from a vacation in the Black Hills. At long last, I have seen Mt. Rushmore. Beautiful area of the country and lots of interesting things to do. Thirteen hour drive, but worth it. Completely by accident we learned that, until Sept 30, the monument folks have a "lighting ceremony" every evening before turning the spot lights on the faces. Very moving -- inspirational and patriotic. The event takes place in the amphitheater where last year's (2020) July 4th celebration took place. Here's a pic:

Meanwhile, back to trains - I'm back to work on my Tennessee Pass build today. Hope to post a number of pictures this evening.

Vince, very timely photo for me. I was reading a book on geology last night that talks about that layer of dark stone below the white carvings. Most photos don't show that. (If you are interested in geology, and particularly if you liked "Annals of the Former World", check out "How the Mountains Grew".)
