Title: Friday - December 10, 2021
Post by: ReadingBob on December 10, 2021, 06:45:01 AM
Morning all,

It looks like the site has been spammed by some useless (insert explicative here).  >:(

Thank God it's Friday!  :)  A three day weekend coming up to boot.  All I have to do is survive one more day at work.  Considering how many folks took today off it shouldn't be too bad.

Have a great one!

That's a treat to see first thing...so much effort devoted to useless BS these days.

Happy Friday. Despite a near miss with freedom, I am very much back to keeping track of the weekends.

Good morning.

No comment on the ____, time to move in a positive direction.

Planning more layout time today.  Barely started working on the layout yesterday and found a short from some previous wiring.  It took me all morning to chase it down, and part of the afternoon to figure out what I had done wrong.  Have I said that wiring is my least favorite part of the hobby?

Everyone have a safe and productive day!

Good morning folks;

Good to see some parents effort to put their child though college were not in vain. Guess this means time to change password.

First a cup of coffee, then on to the layout, suppose to be in 70's today so everything good. Stay well folks.

Morning all,

Probably no modeling for me today. Dr. appointment, then fusion drip, afternoon with the Babe and then into the unknown.

Have a great day.

Good Morning All,

Not sure what happened here but everything came up normal today. Had some track electrical issues which were resolved but also having loco running issues with my Genesis FP7 ABA set so guess what I'll be doing today?

I hope everyone has a good day.

Mornin' all...

Woke up to 28 degrees f and a half inch of snow.   It's the first.   Also pretty late for the first.

Got to get some bench time in also today.  When the grand kids were here in August Eleanor pointed out that I had no school house.  She had me ! ! !

So I promised that I would do something about that.   Wellllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

They get here on the 19th so I need to crank one out.   I'm going to do one from a common plan that the rural districts used here in downtown Idaho.   Clap board and a small tower at the front entrance.

I think I'll do it with a removable roof and an interior.

I'll start a thread for the build later today and see where this goes.   It won't be tough.   I did a check and I have everything I need to whip this out.

see ya

I see the problem on the layout page.

Enough snow to 'track a cat' this morning.  I've been collecting information on B&M turn of the (last) century boxcars, thinking about a project to produce a bunch of them as 'home road' cars.  It looks quite doable, with the only real challenge being the poling pockets.

I'm a little surprised the spam posts haven't been garbage-collected yet.

Dave.............

Here is an idea for poling pockets................

If  you have a small riveting tool you can whip out a bunch of these in .005" brass.  Clamp up a piece of 1/4 inch wooded dowel rod with the round end up.  Then place a square of sheet brass on the end and tap in the impression from the riveting tool.

They have a small dimple in the center that will give you a perfect round impression in the center for the pocket.  Then cut with a small scissors the outer shape that you want.   This may include a piece that wraps around onto the side of the car.

If you don't have a tool like this I can make up a bunch and send them to you..

Here is a photo of the pockets I put on my Steeple cab motor on a build some years ago on this forum.

Let me know how I can help

Bob, neat idea for the poling pockets!  Westerfield makes (or at least used to make) poling pockets, I think I have some of those put away somewhere.

Poling pocket is on my list of things I'd like to see Tichy do someday.  (1st on that list is angle irons, both 1" and 4", the latter similar to the ones Grandt did for D&RG gondolas.)
