Howdy,
First Sunday in the new year. I plan to be at church later today. I haven't been in a while. My wife and I came down with COVID earlier in December and had to isolate. Things are on the up-and-up now.
Yesterday we had very strong winds in the area. Many lost power and had trees fall on their homes. Not good. We dodged that mess. We have plenty of very old trees on the property and all we lost was a bunch of dead limbs and branches.
Time to glue something together for an hour or so ;D
Later.
Jaime
Morning, all.
I'm geting ready for work. Need to check the road conditions as we got quite a bit of snow yesterday. Glad to hear you and your wife are recovering from the Covid, Jaime.

Good Sunday morning to everyone,
Quite house for the moment. Hot coffee and morning newspaper while potatoes and onions are cooking on the stove. My wife's entire extended family gathers at our house for Sunday breakfast about every other week after church since many of the local restaurants are closed or operate under reduced hours. We've been doing this for the past two years and it keeps everyone in touch and gathering regularly. They'll be by in about an hour.
It can be slightly challenging negotiating the wide range of political stances, but it's worth it and my wife really appreciates me cooking for the crowd.
This is my retirement year! I got my social security set up and I'll be officially retired in mid-February. After 50 years of work, it seems mighty strange to know in a month and a half I'll no longer have a full time job. Can't wrap my head around it yet.
Need to go turn those potatoes so they don't burn.
Have a great day, everyone.

Good morning.
Raining at the moment, with freezing rain and sleet forecast for later this morning. Gee, what fun. Time to see what kind of trouble I can get into while staying inside. ;D ;D ;D
Pic from Dick Elwell's layout. Not my best effort with composition... :-[
Glad to see Jaime and Mrs. Jaime survived their COVID bouts. The aftereffects aren't fun either. Maybe Jaime's illness explains why the donuts have been stale or missing recently.
Quiet day planned, but only the Shadow knows if that will be the case.
Good morning! Good to hear that Jaime and family are on the mend from COVID. We got a few inches of snow last night so I will heading out to plow the driveway this morning. I hope everyone has a great day. It's time to continue our journey around the F&SM:

Good Morning All,
The humidity is ridiculous for the beginning of January. Forgot to post earlier. Just finished some chores and layout room cleanup is this afternoon in preparation of the next build.
I hope everyone has a good day.
Morning all,
Been busy with 1:1 stuff.
Have a great day.

Still kicking around. I hate this time of year. A couple of days ago it was in the upper 60's and now it's in the teens with snow on the ground. It never got below freezing all December and I'm afraid January will try to even things out.
At least I got stuff to keep me busy. ;D
Morning all. Had a nice dinner with friends of mine last night. Prime Rib, King Crab, Shrimp. I was stuffed when it was over. Glad to see the Build Challenge taking off already this year. I'll post a few photos of mine later.
Warm today, cold tomorrow. Fortunately the snow on driveway/walkway has mostly melted, but whatever meltwater ends up there will be iced over.
We passed our departure Covid test. I'm definitely relieved about that.

Good afternoon!
Christmas tree is out for the garbage man and house decorations are slowly getting taken down. This is our traditional way of starting a new year.

Congratulations on your impending retirement. I did it last July and still haven't figured out what it is all about. Too busy to worry about it for now.

I have been retired for 15 years and the first five years were the worst, loss of work connections, endless wondering what to do and getting the legal stuff sorted. What finally worked for me was walk into each room and areas in the yards and make a list by room, of all the things I promised to do and didn't or done poorly.
Then each year I committed funds and time to get them done. Gives me a reason to stay awake and feel that I did something. After ten years I am on the finally items and ready to get back to modelling full time.
The single most important task is purge your life of trash. I asked the question do I need it, do my children want it and can I sell it. The aim is to simplify my life and set the stage for the other people to be able to do the death duties without added stress. Ask he question " can they survive after I die". Sounds morbid, but is a way of loving your family afterwards.
Just my opinion.
I've got 5 years until my retirement,,,, I've got a shelf full of kits that will keep me busy!!! I agree about "thinning" out the stuff. It's never too early to do that!
