Title: Wednesday 05JAN2022
Post by: MAP on January 05, 2022, 05:54:11 AM
Good morning!  Freezing rain headed here this morning...Oh boy!  I'm taking my wife's car in to the shop for service, so hopefully I beat the weather before it hits.  I'll get some train stuff in later today.  Jaime, the Springfield show is on....for now.

Morning, all.

Good luck tomorrow, Tom.  Here it's barely above zero.  Good thing I don't plan to leave the house today.

Good Morning;

Tom, prayers for you and the Babe. A lot else I would like to say but you've heard it many times. Looking forward to your first post explaining how the nurse 'misunderstood' what you were saying 😂😁.

In our world Franklin arrived yesterday. He is 5 pounds of King Charles Springer Spaniel tornado. We pick up his soon to be sister Holly Mae today. Pictures to follow.

All the best to everyone.

Good Morning Everyone,

Another day in what some call paradise, but it is warm and no snow. I thought I would add to the well wishes for Tom, as we all know we want a quick and thorough recovery for him.

Tom, you are on your way in getting this crap behind you, a few days in bed and then you will have a another story to tell. Hopefully the hospital staff will be cognizant of your stature on this forum and provide you with excellent service and care, maybe even a RR magazine or two. The down side of your visit, this weekend you will be in your hospital bed bored stiff and ready to get up and leave, but just take it easy, the end results are well worth the rest. I can attest to that!

So, the best to you and your surgeons, I will call next week, you can tell me what the scars look like.

To everyone, enjoy the day.

Howdy,

Tom, we're pulling for you. Lots of prayers and well wishes.

I can't believe it is the first hump day of the year. It feels like 2022 is halfway over already  ;D

Later.

Thank you all so very much for the prayers and well wishes.

This is actually considered routine surgery in terms of all the advancements in open heart surgery.

The good thing I have going for me is that my heart is very strong and healthy. This procedure is to replace the main aortic valve but the doctor needs to open me up to do it.

I'll be in the hospital very bored as Bob L. said. The expected day of release from jail is next Wednesday.

I have a bell to ring when I need Pam to bring me a fresh cold Diet Pepsi. I tested it the other night and she said she didn't hear it. I told her to watch The Polar Express and to ask Santa to never let her NOT hear the bells.  8)

I have a little on the Taxi thread to post later this evening.

Again, thank you all for the friendship and support. I love this place.

Tom  ;D

Good luck to Tom!

In other news, it appears NMRA will go ahead and publish their 'digital magazine' using some sort of cheezy application, rather than just providing a PDF that can easily be read pretty much on any kind of device/operating system.  Guess the NMRA insiders are afraid that someone who hasn't paid for the magazine will read it for free.  More importantly, they'd rather spend membership dollars on something that has to be maintained across multiple platforms.  Kalmbach's MR DVD stopped working on my Mac the year after I paid $200 for it.   When NMRA ran the evaluation of their app-based approach, I provided this feedback to them, which they completely ignored.

Morning from snowy Minnesota...
Winds are blowing snow drifts across the long driveway...looks like a new mountain range just formed with four high peaks...
Temps will be falling all day too...
Wishing you all the best Tom for your successful operation and recovery !
