Title: Monday Jan 10, 2022
Post by: Jim Donovan on January 10, 2022, 06:22:28 AM
Ahh, puppies, I forgot how they are like babies. Well they have been outside, both did their duty and were rewarded. Now eating so I have time to start the forum day.

Good Morning folks. Had family over yesterday for Turkey, football and cards. The puppies were the stars of course. Great day.

Today I hope to squeeze in some bench time. Hope everyone has a great day.

Good morning , the year has started on a down side , a dear colleague and friend of my age  passed away last week , we don't know exactly when . He didn't show up for work and the second day my manager went to his house and together with the police found him sitting on the couch , seems he died a natural death. Won't be the same at work without him , we are all devastated.

It is a wake up call for me though , live life to the full each day . I have been putting things off because I was waiting till to retire and then do all the things I have in my mind , no more putting off , who knows when it all ends.

So for one thing I picked out 2 kits , and already started on one of them in N-scale and the other will be an H0 scale kit .

Morning all,

I'm so sorry to hear that news Jan.   :'(   Thoughts and prayers to you as well as all his family and friends.

I confess to not getting anything done at the workbench this weekend.  I blame Michael Connelly ("Dark Sacred Night" a Renee Ballard and Harry Bosch novel).  It was a page turner for sure.

Have a great one!

Good Morning All,

Jan condolences on your friends loss.

Yesterday was wasted with 1:1 stuff but today after a couple of things I'll be back working on the build challenge.

I'm drawing a blank so maybe someone can suggest what to do. The build has several walls that are not wood and not heavy paper but something in between. Should I spray it first with a rattle can before doing anything else to it?

I hope everyone has a good day.

Trying a different regimen this AM to see if I can be more productive and spend more time in the basement.
Sorry for your loos, Jan. Sometimes it takes a loss like this to force us to mend our ways.
Stay well all.

Sorry Jan

We're getting our lives back together after being without power for the better part of last week and having "decamped." Just having trouble getting going.

Curt,

I don't have this kit but based on other FOS kits I would hazard a guess that this is some type of laserboard.  I rattle can prime it to seal it if I am using acrylic paints.  Be forewarned that this will most likely "take" paint differently than wood and the same color will probably look a shade or two different across the two different materials.

I agree with Jerry's comments and would add "make sure you brace it before you prime it".

Jan..............

Sorry to hear of your friend.....

I have considered such thing as you observe and I fall back on some saloon sage that once said, "A guy has a finite amount of stuff to get done in his lifetime,  as far behind as I am, I'm going to live forever!"

Such occurrences do give us pause.

I'm off to the work bench.

see ya

Howdy,

Jan, so sorry to hear of your loss.

I'm a hostage to a two week technical training course for the next two weeks. I'll try to get in some modeling time.
