Title: lGood Morning on MLK Day
Post by: Judge on January 17, 2022, 07:00:52 AM
Well, its 48 degrees here in beautiful Central Florida at 0630 hours.  Rain yesterday as part of the nastiness further north.  Today should be bathed in Florida sunshine with a high in the mid-60s.  It gets warmer later in the week - low 80s.

I will be doing a little light work today.

Yesterday, I ran through the horn sequences on a new TCS WOW Sound decoder and discovered three new Baldwin horns.  TCS upgrades their decoders for a minimal charge if you send the old one back to them.  I will probably send the decoders for our Sharks, Centipedes, and an S-12 back to TCS.

Meanwhile, I have been waiting for delivery of Rapido's PAs for nearly two years and I am told they are "in transit."  That means they are in a container somewhere off the California coast.  As the followers of the adventures of the Atlantic & Southern will remember, we acquired an 11-car passenger train of California Zephyr vintage several years ago and added A-B-A lash-ups of D&RGW F3s and CB&Q F2s.  We justified this extravagant purchase to create a leased Gulf Breeze section of the Pensacola Zephyr.   I know, it was a stretch, but the cars and the western diesels look good speeding through Sanlando.  Anyway, I decided that a set of D&RGW PAs would round out the train so they were ordered. It may be 2023 before they are delivered. Here are a couple of "run-bys" for illustrative purposes.

Good Morning Bill and everyone who stops by. It is indeed chilly this morning in Florida but after seeing yesterday's photos from Rail and Tie I have no complaints.

I have a pot of coffee going and a day to myself so I am off to the layout. Hope everyone has a great day.

Morning all.

Getting ready for work.  Should be interesting as according to a message yesterday, we have very few nursing staff available today.  I think the Pensacola Zephyr would look better with CB&Q units pulling it, Judge.   :)

Good morning to all,

Second cup of coffee after shoveling heavy snow from the driveway (I am counting that as my exercise for today) so my wife can get to work. Our school is closed today for the MLK Jr holiday, so now can devote as much time as I want to working on my 2022 challenge build.

Our snow is not bad, albeit heavy from rain.  Ralphie is getting a bit more:  https://www.achristmasstoryhouse.com/liveshot/ (https://www.achristmasstoryhouse.com/liveshot/)

Have a great day, everyone.

Morning,

Blizzard conditions here with 9" of snow blowing into 3' drifts. At least it is not below zero, that is for the next few days.

Just watched the videos--agreed, they DO look good on the run throughs.  That sound is exciting!

Morning. Rainy windy and wet in my corner of Massachusetts. I got the word that Seaport Models won't be at the Big E in 2 weeks. It will be interesting to see how this year's show compares to past shows.

Good Morning All:

Wet and rainy here in SE Pa. Hopefully it will clear up. At least all the snow is gone.

Good Morning All,

I'm happy the wife made french toast for breakfast. Been fighting a head cold but the medicine seems to be helping. Have some chores then hopefully some build time.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Morning all,

Last official holiday for work until Memorial Day which is a long way away.  I'll make a few of my own in between now and then.  Chilly out so I think I'll spend time at the workbench today.  ;)

2-3" of snow and then rain on top.  It's now very heavy slush on the driveway, which I'll need to shovel before it freezes hard tonight.

Yesterday I cut the subfloor, end blocks, and undercarriage parts for 11 boxcars.  The subfloors/end blocks were cut to length on my Proxxon saw, along with ripping 1/16 x 1/2 to .32 wide as coupler pads.  The 1/16" undercarriage parts were done with a caliber cutter/shay wood miter.  I've learned (the hard way) when doing a tool set-up for multiple pieces to always cut a couple extra...

Good morning.

I have about 8" of snow at my house so far with another inch or so forecast for tonight.  I shoveled a path to the barn and took care of my neighbor's cows this morning.  He's supposed to be back home later today.  He's responsible for snow removal as part of the deal to use my barn to house his animals, so I'm waiting to get plowed out.  I'm looking forward to spending much less time on the tractor moving snow this winter.

Mostly I have been working on the planning portion of my layout while I wait for another switch I ordered to arrive so I can finish some track modifications.  I also re-started work on a creamery kit build that I got about half done a few years ago and then lost interest.

Everyone have a safe and productive day!

Morning,
It's 25 outside, overcast and the temps will drop to zero mid week for 5 days in a row here because it's ice box Minnesota.
Stay warm.

We survived another snow event in the Piedmont of Central Virginia. Not as severe as forecast. Crew arrived to clear the driveway.
