Hi All:
Here's the next project for Bar Mills. Here's a photo of the kit.
Karl
This kit is on my Birthday/Anniversary/Christmas list. I'm looking forward to following along.
Roy Clarke
Watching from vacation. Don't glue your fingers together.
Hi Dave K:
Funny you should mention that. Had a CA problem the other day. Darn good thing I keep nail polish removal on hand.
Hi Roy:
Hope you get one.
Karl
I'll be watching as well, I've had my eye on this kit for a while now!
Tom ;D
The kit looks interesting Karl.....I'll be following along.
Here's my version of Honest Joe's Pawn Shop.
(https://modelersforum.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.thewhistlepost.com%2Fforums%2Fgallery%2Fdata%2F500%2Fmedium%2FDSCN3690.JPG&hash=eb428d38c325c40806d6c995a6400ebe112cc894)
Great structure.
I just love anytime someone puts honest into the name of their company...... Who are they reminding the customer or the owner.............. Similarly........ Who are they warning....... the customer or the owner.
There is a used car dealership in Boise called Fairly Reliable Bob's.......... they have been around for 30+ years and do quite well I suppose. Can't fault them for being up front about it.
In the early 70's I ran into an old car parts dealer in Escalon California that called himself Honest Bunch. He might have been honest but you were going to pay high buck for his honesty in every part.
Again....... great structure
Bob
Bob,
I'm confused.
None of the signs have the word honest it them.
There is True Blue Tattoo Parlor. - "You Think It, We Ink It"
Exit Bail Bonds - "Don't Leave Jail Without Us" and
Mdm. Wongs Massage.
Jack
Jack............
It has to do with the name of the thread topic.
see ya
Bob
Sorry,
I read too much into your post.
Jack
Hi Jersey:
Nice job on the pawn shop.
Karl
Hi Tom:
Thanks for watching.
Karl
Hi Greg:
Yeah I think it interesting and will come out nicely.
Karl
Hi Bob:
Lots of interesting company names.
Karl
Great looking structure! Love the thin lines. Could fit well into a wide range of spaces.
Even though it is an oxymoron, I love the name! Great sense of humor there.

Here comes my suspension...
In for a pound...
Ain't stoppin' 'til I get my t-shirt avatar. :P
Hi Dave K.
Great signs. My favorite is Camel Tow Fayetteville NC.
Karl
There goes your thread, Karl.
I get my avatar and no one gets hurt...
No avatar, yet. Gonna play hardball, eh? Here's one just for Karl.
Staggers the imagination ! ! ! ! !

Fire away, Gridley!
OK............. since this thread has gone very far south in something less than 24 hours................
My contribution.
This ad ran in the Boise newspaper for about ten years. I think the guy figured it out as they changed it about two years ago.
Just plain OOOOooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww ! ! ! ! !

My demands are clear...
Hi All:
OK. Here's the brick wall painted with mortar applied with lightweight spackle. You just rub it on with your index finger. The mortar took about 5 minutes. Here;''s photos.
Looks like Karl took his thread back.............
I'm curious how you mortar and brick out the walls.
Thanx
Bob
Hi Bob:
You just put it on with your finger and wipe it off. It's so simple its pathectic

Karl
Good job on the bricks I like your technique - sure a lot easier than most I have tried. Oh and good recovery on the thread hi-jack. Nothing like good modeling to get a thread back on track.

I
have a shirt. I was gunning for a shirt avatar. So much for the power of humor. Carry on, Karl! ::)
Hi Guys:
I'm working on the walls.
Karl
Hi All:
Walls are assembled. This is quite a challenging kit but it was fun.
Here's photos of the assembled walls.
Karl
Hi All:
Roof is also on.
The colors are as follows:
1) Walls are Model Master Pale Green.
2) Windows are Floquil Depot Buff.
3) Bricks are Floquil Zinc Chromate primer. Mortar is Red Devil Onetime lightweight spackling.
4) Roof is Krylon Red Oxide primer from Wallmart. Almost perfect match for the Floquil Zinc Chromate primer.
Thats about it for colors.
Here's a photo of the roof.

Karl
Just curious Karl,
What did you find challenging about the kit?

Good question...if
you found something challenging it'd be good for those planning to build this kit. Nice job as always, Karl.
Hi guys:
Because of the walls and the brick wall the interior bracing is rather different and you have to pay particular attention to what you are doing.
Karl
Karl
Another great looking build. I'm going to try the spackling on my next brick build. Thanks for sharing.
Hi John:
Thanks and you are quite welcome. You will also find many other uses for the spackling. It's great for filling in errors you make.
Karl
Great job Karl.....I like the colors you used.
Hi greg:
Thanks I appreciate it.
Karl
Hi All:
The Pawn Shop is finished. Here's a few photos.

Karl
Hi dustin:

Karl
