Title: Wednesday - April 17, 2024
Post by: ReadingBob on April 17, 2024, 07:11:31 AM
Good morning all,

Hump day here.  Lots of meetings today.  None that I give a rip about.  I have to cut out a little early today to go submit our applications for passports.  Once we have those in hand we'll start planning an oversea trip.

Nothing to report on the workbench front.

Have a great one!

I hope Bob's scrapple agreed with him yesterday.
Got to start concentrating on preparations for Timonium next weekend. Have several locos that need maintenance prior to next Thursday. I'll save all the rolling stock checkups for our late June presentation at Strasburg, PA
Chilly here this AM. The furnace just started.
Keep smiling: it'll make the populus wonder what you're up to.

Dang it.  If I get to Strasburg on our trip up this summer it'll be early June.  My timing stinks.  :(

Good morning.

Blueberry pancakes for breakfast this morning, cats got yesterday's scrapple (and they wouldn't eat it!).

Outside work on the agenda for today.

I hope everyone has a great day!

Bob (and everyone else on a US passport), if you're planning more than 1 overseas trip, once you get your passports, apply for Global Entry:  https://www.cbp.gov/travel/trusted-traveler-programs/global-entry   We did this at the start of the pandemic, so it was a MAJOR PAIN to get our interviews.  But once we got that done, this has been worth every penny.  It gets you TSA Pre 'for free', too.

I just booked a trip to Colorado for the end of June to attend a wedding.  Unfortunately I won't make it to the "Narrow Gauge Holy Lands" sites (Colorado RR Museum, Georgetown Loop RR, D&SNG, C&TSR.)  But it will be good to be in Real Mountains for a while.

Morning,

A bran blueberry muffin and coffee, after the coffee machine exploded. I need a second cup after disassembly of the machine.  Maybe a cinnamon bun will be the reward.

Interviews and scheduling them can be a problem with Global entry. When my daughters couldn't get timely ones scheduled locally, they looked for other slots available and so we made a day trip to Detroit. Got them done quickly and we visited museums and had some good food!

Worked in the yard this morning, but rain is coming...

Have a good one, guys.

I had both senators involved at one point trying to schedule the Global Entry interview.  One staffer said, "CPB is by far the most difficult agency to deal with."  My response, "The senator should give them a hard time for funding."  :-)
