Title: Thursday, August 15
Post by: cuse on August 15, 2024, 07:53:31 AM
Morning All...

Been traveling a lot this year and more to come...most notably, the Narrow Gauge convention in Pittsburgh in Sept, Salt Lake City (just to hike-relatively cheap flights, so...), Costa Rica in December. We've already been to Ireland and on a European river cruise as well as 2 or 3 short trips to NY to spend time with Mom, and multiple short RV trips and a longer one to Asheville, NC.... This sounds like a lot and it certainly is - I don't think I've ever traveled half as much in a year...Next year, we've already resolved to stay home a lot more  :).

I'm steadily coming to the conclusion that it's time to re-do the layout...I'm kind of paralyzed by analysis - and that's a sign that the design doesn't inspire me to action. I can see a few obvious trouble spots that will look toy-like and, admittedly, that's kind of what I had in mind at the outset - but that's changed. I'm thinking about how to build a more realistic, linear, scenically powerful layout in a somewhat less than ideal space...this thought process has me fired up again - which I'll take as evidence that I'm on the right track.

Morning all.

Getting ready to head to work this morning.  Apparently some chaos with coverage and so my next week schedule has changed.  Need to find out what's going on.  Typing is difficult with this splint on, hopefully won't be too much of a burden.

Good luck with the layout redo, John.

Morning all,

Here are a few photos of my new house up here in East TN including the basement workshop/train space.

The space for the train layout is 32x30 plus 11x12 and 12x14 alcoves. The basement 'ceiling' is 9'8".

That's quite a set-up!!

More work on the coaling trestle here, and some work on the abutment for the trestle bridge in front of it.

Wow, OneWolf...that's quite a space and a beautiful view.

Your previous setup was impressive and ambitious a layout as I've ever seen-even without any scenery (at the time)...and I've visited some great ones. Looking forward to watching your progress.

Doug AKA: Onewolf,

Its good to see you up and modeling again. You have a beautiful view, beautiful space for the layout and a beautiful house. I love the lot.

This will be fun to see how you design the new layout.

Of course, we miss you here in hot Central Florida.

I've got a pretty reasonable layout space Doug, but DANG!  That is a nice layout room!  Is it ALL for the layout?  You seem to have storage and a workroom taken care of.  Be sure to do a thread on your progress.

Cheers, Mark.
