Wow...I get to open.
All good here. Many track plans spinning in my head, but I think I've boiled it down a bit. I won't lay any track until after the NNGC because I know I'll see things that make me want to rip it all down and start over again ;D
I'm pretty certain I'll include a loop of HOn3 (I'm in HOn30) so I can reclaim one of my beautiful Blackstone locos...my 1yr old grandson seems very confused when he comes to find me in my office and the choo-choo's are gone...I'm going to up the ante and bring in a nice sound-equipped steamer for his enjoyment...my kids didn't care-maybe I'll hook him.

I'm still plugging along trying to get my freight car fleet up to snuff. Since it is a rainy drizzly day I should be able to make some progress.

Love the pictures yesterday and I will check out the Bourne Bridge. Today more of the same, yesterday I designed a basic design of a bridge and today I will have it cut out by laser and then hook up the electric to see if concept I have will work. Slow going at this point.

Still doing some 1:1 painting in the master bedroom. Another day, another wall. Furniture has already been moved out of the way now it's time to stir the paint and have at it.
Looking forward to whatever it is you come up with for a track plan John. I need to refresh myself (more like learn) CadRail and do some planning. Hand laying track requires a little more of a refined plan. It's not as easy to rearrange things after the fact.

Well, after pondering (in the middle of the night) the problem of the butt joints on my curved trestle's joists, I have a solution. I'll rip down some 1/16 x 1/2 to 1/16 x 1/4 and cut 'corbels' to bridge the joint and provide a lot better gluing surface. (And that's a case where NBW castings will actually provide a bit of extra strength. Still, a lot of custom angles on the joist pieces to follow the curve. That'll be the hardest part of the whole build, I think (and hope!).

I was up early to cut the grass and then it started to rain. Now the rain has stopped and I'm waiting for the sun, what little there is, to dry out the grass.

I built that kit, although I swapped the location of the loading elevator. And I have the spot picked out for it on the layout. The problem is that location is probably at the end of the current build plan, so right now it sits on the shelf. I combined that with a small ice house and a lot of lumber for a combined coal/ice/lumber dealer, a pretty common late 19th/early to mid 20th century local enterprise.
