Morning all.

Lazy day here with nothing planned.

Hard to believe 9/11 was 23 years ago.  I think we'll all remember that day.

Good Morning Folks;

I made the 'mistake' of watching Fox news this morning when they played the segment of 9/11 showing in detail what and how things went on that terrible day. It should be required watching in schools but I am sure it would be too 'shocking' to be allowed. Seeing the truth destroys the fantasy being taught today.

I hope to show the progress made on my drawbridge project in a day or two. I succeeded in getting the electronics right so it opens and closes in a realistic manner, using the same method the original bridges used.

Anyway Hope everyone remembers this day and enjoys the freedom a lot of people paid the price for us to enjoy.

Jim

Work-in-progress.  The bents are just set in place, not glued.

I like this view.  You can see the curve on the track, and where the truss bridge will have to go along that curve.

Here's my tactical plan: (1) add NBW to the bents. Drilling through the bracing into the posts and cutting long tails on the NBW castings actually adds strength to the bents. (2) touch up the paint, etc (3) Then locate the bent in the middle (closest to the road) and carefully install that to hold the bridge level and square (across the track). (4) then add bents to either side. If the bent is too tall, I'll sand the bottom mud sill. If the bent is too short, I'll shim it up probably with styrene strips. This will probably take a couple of days, assuming I don't run out of NBW castings. (If so, Tichy mail order is very quick.)

 Almost 6pm...hard to believe it is 23 years since 9/11. Was out in the garage spray painting castings today when I heard the roar of a jet...many local events in the area...it went away and came back louder...2 jets...then 20 minutes later 4 f-22 fighters fly over our house, pretty low in the county...guess it for the Twins game tonight downtown and they were coming together out here north of the cities for the flyover... We must not forget...Tommy
