Title: Tuesday - 10/8/2024 (here we go again)
Post by: ReadingBob on October 08, 2024, 01:17:57 PM
Afternoon all,

Did a little more prep, in morning, in anticipation of the arrival of Milton.  Based on Tom's comment yesterday I thought I'd better try firing up the generator.  Thankfully it started on the first pull.  I sure hope I don't need it.  Found all the extension cords in case we do need it.

Kind of ticked that they haven't picked up the yard waste the last two weeks.  One of those was prior to the the last hurricane.  Now, everyone has piles of debris set out in front of their homes that is going to get redistributed during Milton.  Sigh....

Not much else going on.

Have a great one!

Bob,
When your next property tax bill comes, show up two weeks plus to pay it.
If they can't/won't provide the services on time, why pay on time? Isn't that the way the system works?
Best wishes to all who will encounter Milton. Ya'll can keep the remnants, thank you.

Afternoon all,

Worked on the generator, cleaned the carb. checked the low oil sensor, drained old gas, added new gas -- still no go. If I prime the carb it starts then cuts off. Don't know what else to do and at this point, don't care.

The sun is still out and the cloud are getting darker. So, I cut the grass and now I'm ready for the yard trash to fall from the trees.

Have a safe day everyone.

Tom

Tom,

I know how frustrating troubleshooting problems like this can be.  I'd suggest unhooking the gas hose from the carburetor to see if the gas from the tank is getting to the carb.  If not, check your hose and the inlet from the tank, the shutoff valve too, to see it it might have failed.  If you have gas to the carb, and you are sure all the tiny orifices in the carb are clean are clean, look for a float that is sticking shut and not allowing the carburetor to fill with gasoline.  I have to tell you that even though I need my generator less often that you do yours, I find mine an exercise in frustration.  HTH!

For the record, I hate internal combustion engines.

Best of luck to everyone riding out the storm in Florida!
