Thanks for the invite Tom, but I've got leaves to get rid of and a garage to finish cleaning.
Also, would be a very short stay as I've got choir practice tomorrow at 10:15 after church. Why don't you run a train for me since I can't accept your kindness today.

Morning,

No AI today, just self pity and coffee.

Good morning.

Overcast start this morning to what is forecast to be a sunny day.  I was considering a road trip, but it looks like a better day to stay home.  Nothing exciting recently except I have my computer working after a couple days of problems.  Not sure I trust that it is "fixed", but it is working at the moment.  Fingers crossed it keeps on working.

I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable day!

Good Morning Folks;

Well the big news of the day is the Winter Challenge is Officially open. Check out the new post that outlines the rules and the prizes available this year! My hope is to get members past and present to join in the fun as well as bringing in new members to introduce them to our little community of modelers. If you see something you have a question about or a suggestion please let me know. Best of luck and I am really looking forward to seeing what this talented group of modelers can achieve!!

Jim

Good morning.

I made it thru surgery, so you're still stuck with me.  I'm still in the hospital as my sodium level is low and they are trying to figure it out.  Good to see the challenge started.  Right now I'm not sure when I'll be back to structure work.

Everyone should send Dr Jeff salty potato chips and other snacks  ;D

I decided to tackle some rough scenery, finishing the shelf part of the layout.  Right now glue on the support underneath is drying, I decided to add that as a bit of reinforcement since this could get bumped as people move around the room.  Once the glue is dry, I'll do some plaster wrap over the cloth aprons attached to the splines.

Hang in there Dr Jeff. You'll be outta there soon.

According to my plan, at least, this should be a productive train weekend. It's been a really busy work week and hosting friends last night, but after the big clean up, I hope to get my two module "shells" into the house, upstairs and mounted to my cabinet benchwork...If I actually get it done, I'll post some pics so you all can see what I'm up to. A bit more carpentry to do in the barn first, but it certainly seems doable (if Murphy permits)

I've always been way too lazy and sporadic in my modeling to post a real build thread, but this new challenge sure fits my needs. I have a precise scene and kit that would fit - so I'll seriously consider it. Kudos to the fantastic Keep It Rusty kits donated for the prizes.

Hey everyone, I'm still alive,I think.. Along with my mother's issues I had a 9mm kidney stone removed yesterday. Messed around with a couple of old Magnuson buildings this summer, I've have them about 90% done, hope to get some stuff done during the holidays. DJR

Good morning,

This morning I have been working on the area right in front of the house that is currently just mulched with pine needles/weed mat.  I plan to plant a bunch (250ish) perennial flower bulbs (Tulip, Daffodil, Lily, Iris) in sections of that area. Eventually I will also plant 6 small/med shrubberies. This morning I raked back the pine needles to expose the weed mat and removed the weed mat as needed. The 'dirt' here is pure orange clay so I rototilled to loosen up the clay (lots of rocks/gravel in the 'dirt'). I am now waiting for Lowes to deliver the 20 bags of enhanced garden soil I will be spreading, rototilling again to mix the clay/garden soil, raking smooth, and then planting bulbs (probably tomorrow).

It's a cool sunny day (high about 64).

Lowes is also delivering today 50 bags of organic compost and cow manure I will be spreading where I need to seed grass in the front yard.  That will be the next big outdoor project. Fun!

Hope y'all have a nice day!

Doug

Doug,  pine needles are very acid.  You might need to add some lime to get your bulbs to grow OK.

Doesn't it bother you to pay good money for bulls**t?  :o  If only politicians delivered....

Afternoon all,

Glad to hear Jeff has put the surgery behind him and it's always good to hear from Raymo (glad you're recovering from your issues as well).

Busy, well the wife is anyway, preparing for tonight's "Friendsgiving" feast.  I have a few things to do but she's doing the bulk of the work.

Late yesterday afternoon our main TV decided to retire.  So, I was off to Best Buy to pick up a replacement.  Went from a dumb TV with a Roku Sound bar to a Smart TV.  I've been trying to figure that out.  I think I have it, more or less.  I did attach the Roku Sound bar to it as some of the app's available on the Roku aren't available on the new TV.

I'll have to give some thought to what I want to build for the challenge.  Sounds like fun!

Have a great one!
