We've had several new signups over the past few days and I expect many more given the news of the RR-Lines forum closing down soon.
Let's be sure to welcome all new members and spread the word that there is plenty of room at the Inn for all those seeking sanctuary.
New guy here. Looking around to see what's here.

'Nother "New Guy" on board! Good to have a place to get out of the cold when necessary. Northern Michigan is a cultural experience in winter. Looking forward to this!
Make it a great day, All, and stay safe!

Welcome, Pete, Karl and other newcomers. I've been here since 2014 but wasn't active between 2021 and a few days ago.
Count me in as another one of the new guys.
Long time member at the RR-Line.
Thanks for having me.
Yup, I'm a new guy as well, a soon to be refugee from the RR-Line forums after several years
of being there. Looking forward to hanging out here and thanks for having me.
Signed up as a member back in 2020 on this forum, so not new here. Still on the fence on what to do.
This is the second forum I've been on that is closing down. Freerails was my first. Unfortunately, I'm not savvy enough in the tech field of setting up a forum and running it or I would have started one myself.
Anyway, I'll stop by now and then and see if I fit in.
At Craig, I was the one that bought your 3D printer. I have as of today not printed on it. Long story that I might present one day.

Hey Rick.....don't forget, we love pictures here, especially your adventures with Star.
Good afternoon. I'm also coming over from RRL. Have been a member over there since retirement in 2014. Looking forward to new adventures here.

A question for both new members and site administrators: Should this site add new topics/categories, as the membership grows with a more diverse set of interests?
I would say "yes", and suggest a separate administrative topic where people can suggest new topics.

Another newby here from railroad line. Thanks for having me!

Hello everyone,
I'm another refugee from the railroad line forum so I guess that makes me a newby (pun intended) here.

Quote from: robert goslin on January 04, 2025, 05:00:29 PMHello All. I'm also new here, all the way way from Melbourne, Australia.
And another refugee from Railroad Line Forums.
Plenty of others have or are coming over, plus plenty of familiar names that were already on both forums.
I model in a variety of scales.
N scale Boston & Maine, 1953. Current half finished layout, will be torn down and a new one started soon.
On30 Maine based freelance waterfront, 1950's. Hope to have a layout started for that next year. Currently just dioramas.
On30 / On18 Mexican mini layout. Just completed this year, although I am currently adding a small extension to it.
Will probably recreate the old RRL thread for that over here, if anyone is interested.
Robert,
Welcome to this forum. I hope you consider showing us what you are doing in all those scales.
Tom
Count me in as well. I signed up previously, just can't remember when.
Recently received Happy Birthday wishes from you nice people. Thanks
Thanks for keeping my seat warm...
Hi everyone, my name is Greg, I am also a refugee from Railroad Line Forums.
Though I feel more like a rat fleeing a sinking ship, even though the ship hasn't sunk quite yet over there.
I really enjoy presenting HO scale builds, however I stopped doing them on RR Lines due to the changes to that forum.
This Modeler's Forum looks like it will be a good fit for those of us from RR Lines looking for a new place to share our passion for building structures & train layouts.
So I am looking forward to getting back into the swing of things here now.
Greg

Naturally, new voices might have some ideas along these lines. I think this is worth pursuing!!
Welcome to all the new visitors. Make yourselves at home and help us grow!

Hello to all-
Mark B. here. I'm another refugee from RR-L Forums. Looking forward to the ride. I live in North Central Wisconsin and model On30 and have been in model trains for over 60 years and still learning new things nearly every day.

Wow! I go away for a week cruise and a lot has changed. First Happy New Year to everyone. I was sad to learn RR Line Forum is scheduled to close but am glad we are here to be an option. As long term members know, this forum also went through its own trial and tribulation, going offline for a few months a couple of years ago. However under new management (myself) and with Craig Rusty offering his very knowledgeable computer skills we were able to bring the site not just back on line but make it easy to use including the ability to use large photos in presentations. So whether you are new to the site or just coming back you are truly welcome. I understand Craig will be setting up a new 'topic' area where new ideas can be suggested to improve the Forum along with additional Subject Topics. One thing you will notice (or not notice) ads. The site is financially secure and will remain ad free with the possible exception I have offered Craig the opportunity to advertise his business for all the work he has done and continues to do for free. Hopefully he will take me up on the offer sometime.Last but certainly not least everyone who is just joining or coming back please check out this year's Winter Challenge. It is a build contest consisting of a train diorama with substantial awards for the top three entries this year. So check out the Challenge area and read up on the simple rules. The contest goes through March so you have plenty of time to enter. Welcome to the clubhouse, glad to have you and make yourself at home.Jim
Thank you both!
Thank you, Jim and Craig, for a nice place to warm up in. As much as I hate change it's inevitable.
Looks like I'll be staying here and making this my new home.

Bernd I agree I don't like change much either, it's why I came out of my cave when Craig Rusty said he could help get the site back up. He does an amazing job keeping things on track. We are glad you decided to give the site a try and hope you like it. I'm not real sure how RR Lines operates but you should find our site straight forward. Everyone can have their own picture gallery, can e-mail within the site to other members and can see everything and comment. It is like a clubhouse of sanity from the outside crazy world.By the way I grew up in Scottville and moved to Florida in 1973. My family had a cottage on Honeoye Lake for many years. Dad worked at the U of R. I saw you live south of Rochester. While I root for the Bucs these days I still also root for the Bills and it just might be their year! Take CareJim

Jim - Small world we live in! Wayland, NY is where I grew up and spent many summers swimming at Honeoye Lake @ Sandy Bottom. Best place to swim without hurting your feet. I worked at an Engineering firm in Rochester, NY from 1970-1978.
I currently live in Bradford, PA, just 10 miles south of the NY/PA border, and am about an hour's drive southwest of Bernd.
