Title: Sunday Brunch 1-12-24
Post by: KentuckySouthern on January 12, 2025, 10:36:38 AM
Cold and snowy greetings from the palm of the mitten.  Mid 20s and light, ongoing, snow our forecast today and the next few.

Corned beef hash with an egg sitting in the middle, hashbrowns and toast as you wish.  Ski lift coffee and tea.  Ice cold sody-pop of your choice.

Track cleaning and layout work on tap here.

Everyone have a fine day.

Morning Karl and others,

Thanks for breakfast Karl, perfect one for this cold morning.

I'll be working on the Flat Iron and updating the thread today.

Have a safe, warm and healthy day ya'll.

Bright and sunny, still about 2" of snow on the ground, temps in the mid 20s.  I love this weather!  Heading to 33, so I hope the snow melts from the driveway.

Yesterday I started work on the wood part of the Lamson main mill tower.  After looking at the laser cut wood pieces, I thought I could do something a bit more interesting from styrene.  I should finish that assembly today and see how it looks.

Good morning.

Thanks for breakfast Karl, haven't had hash in a long time.

About three inches of snow here yesterday, plowed out the driveway during the morning.  We did get a dusting overnight last night, thankfully no need to plow today.

Planning to watch the NFL playoff games today, most likely some modeling in front of the TV.

I hope everyone has a safe, warm, and enjoyable day!

Good Morning All,

Finally got above freezing @ 34 with a high of 35 in New York.

Karl thanks for the coffee and breakfast. Mmm...hash & eggs.

Yesterday helped my Daughter get moved into her new apartment with the help of the movers and her best friend. While the ladies set up the living room and bedroom, I handled the electronics and installed a new shower curtain rod. Obviously no bench time yesterday.

Today is a rest day, not as young as I used to be, so the bench will be seen.

Have a great day. Be well and keep warm.

Morning all,

Looks like I can spend some time at the workbench today.  Maybe while watching a little football, assuming there's a game on regular TV and not a premium service.

Have a great one!

Bonjour à tous.  I've foregone breakfast in lieu of mail-ordering an out-of-production "diorama kit", namely Builders in Scale Kit #9, TideWater Wharf.  Had been staring at it for a few days and seeing its lighthouse in my soup, hearing my AMEX card bleating plaintively, scuttling along the floor toward my iPad as I slept. Got fed up and pressed the button.

Apart from the lighthouse, it has a ship-chandler/sailmaker's loft, a wee coffee shop, and a monstrous boatbuilder's hangar.  I've got a bee in my bonnet about building a vaguely-Atlantic pierhead micro layout or two, thus my justification.

I added a (relatively) inexpensive old brass HOn3 D&RGW boxcar to the order, unpainted, because (a) the postage stayed the same, and (ii) one can never have too many little boxcars, and I presently have precisely none.

Crit,

The Tide Water Wharf is a very nice kit. Congrats on getting it. Looking forward to the build if you post it here.

I do aim to take a stab at it and post a play-by-play here.  Chickens before they're hatched, of course, but I figure on starting with either the coffee shop or the lighthouse, depending on what I see once I've opened the box and read the instructions.  The chandlery and the boatbuilding shop are back-of-mind, but I definitely see them together, en scène.  (I have quite a good pile of old issues of WoodenBoat magazine, and have my late father's custom-built 1950s 16' cedar canoe as an inspirational totem, boat-wise.)

Good Afternoon All,

Thanks for opening and breakfast Karl.

I started out with a walk at a feel like temp of 36F. After chores I thought I was going to start on the SW kit but MOH decided we needed to put up 3 floating shelfs above the master toliet...now. They are up but I have no energy to do anything else. :-\

I also thought I posted this morning but I guess not.

I hope everyone has a good day.
