Title: Fool's Day April 1, 2025
Post by: Jim Donovan on April 01, 2025, 09:26:22 AM
As reported by all major news outlets today has been designated Jim Donovan Sr.'s Birthday, and that is no joke (except for news outlets caring). My Dad served in the Second World War and Korean War in the Navy (he bought the story after WW2 there would be no more wars so was in the reserve when Korea arrived). Born in 1922 we lost him in 1991. Happy Birthday Dad!

I have the coffee pot brewing and today's Kirkland coffee is STRONG! Grab a cup, pull up a chair and let the stories begin.

The difference between today and the rest of the year is we celebrate our fools today...

Sunny but windy.  In a bit, I'll head downstairs and start coloring my rocks.

Morning all,

Dropped the better half off for a routine procedure (the one that preparing for is far worse than the actual procedure) and I'm waiting for the call to go back and pick her up. Didn't sleep well last night so a nap might be in order this afternoon.

Have a great one!

Good morning, all.  Almost finished with business, then back to the layout.  Happily, I was given pictures of the gas station next to the house Kanthima is roofing, now I just have to get them off FB.

Just left denti$t'$ office.  He sounds like #47, "Drill, Baby, Drill!!!" :o

Headed back home where power is still out  >:( l. Lots of poles down still. The AI prognosticator sending text updates is celebrating the meaning of the day. They surely can't fix it by their latest info.

Little else to report. I'll take some of that nap time, Bob.

At least it IS sunny 8)  but Cold. Another big storm forecast for morning tomorrow with severe potential, Sunday's had at least 5 tornadoes here about plus massive straight winds Upper half of the state had terrible ice. They closed THE bridge due to the "worst falling ice, EVER" :o

After watching this I'll shut up about my power problem:  https://youtu.be/9KD_z5Cs-H4?si=rgtXGQ8dzD2m9WF2

No model work, imagine.

Be well all.

I've no idea if it would work for you, Karl, but in the first few years I lived here, there were several 1- and 2-day outages, because our 900 people got less attention than larger towns in the area.  That contributed to our getting PV/battery/inverter solar power in 1994. Our first sine-wave inverter had to come from Australia because none were being made on this continent.  Since then, our town's longest outage was 6 days, in the aftermath of a big ice storm.  But through it our house was lit and heated, and our water pump worked.  It does need attention from time to time, and the batteries don't last forever: we're on our 3rd bank now, hoping I can put off replacing the lead-acid till I can get sodium-ion instead.
