Title: Hey, you know what this reminds me of?
Post by: Dave Buchholz on May 12, 2025, 11:50:34 AM
Every once in a while we notice something in our 1:1 daily lives that looks like something that could be useful in our miniature worlds. Things like tops of medicine tubes looks like air vents. Shish Kabob spears look like telephone polls or pier pilings.

This thread is dedicated to  exactly  that purpose. Please post your ideas that transfer in scale from the real world to our modeling world, whatever it may be. Although photos of "before and after" are welcome and helpful, just the thought or idea itself is appreciated  and encouraged here.

Happy Modeling!

The gauge on this boiler was cut from the bottom of the cover on the needle for my insulin pen:

I had mentioned using tops from ointments tubes as air ventilators. This is what you get in 1/87 scale. In 1/48 they might serve as a matched set of f lampshades.

The tube caps suggest cooking hood ventilators to my eye.
