I put another coat of paint, this one on the back of the parts I cut yesterday, to protect them from sun damage. Later today I'll install the framing, and tomorrow a neighbor will come over to hold the blinds while I attach them to the frame. Then a bit of caulk to patch some small mistakes and make everything look smooth and finished... At least that's the plan...
In the meantime, I'll probably head down and think a bit more about the line shafts for the machine shop. I need to select the pulleys and do a layout of them. I don't think I'll drill through the cone pulleys, just a bit of drilling at each end, so the line shaft will end up being several pieces connected at the cone pulleys. I also need to think about shifters, although watching some more machine shop videos, one guy just uses a broomstick to shift the belts. I didn't realize they'd move that easily. There's another Iron_Jonsey video, this one of a shaper doing its thing. Watching machine tools work is so hypnotic!

Bob, I learned the hard way to always travel with a couple allergy pills in my carry-on. Flying home with a head cold is miserable!
Sunny right now. I'll check the pieces I painted earlier this AM, if they're dry enough, I'll take them upstairs and install them. Otherwise, down to the train room... ;D

If that's a head cold, I'll highly recommend that you postpone the return if at all possible. As Dave mentioned, allergies react to pills, but head colds don't, and you can do serious damage to your hearing if there's an incident on the plane due to emergencies or rapid descents. Stay safe!

Well.... I mis-measured one inside opening on the skylight project, which I didn't find out until after I nailed in that piece and tried to test-fit the blind assembly. What I -should have done- was pried up the nailed-in piece. cut it down. But since I couldn't see how much I needed to remove from the top, I tried sanding, then chiseling and finally cut out the bit of top molding around the skylight. That took a lot more time than if I had redone the bottom piece. This is the difference between amateurs and pros. The pros know how to adjust from a mistake.
The other blind fit OK.
