Morning all,

The last day of June.  Where did it go?

Headed to the mid 80s here.  First up a walk this morning and then we'll see what's up for the rest of the day.

Bright hazy sky and moderate mid 60 temperatures here by the cedar swamp. It should be a nice day. The girls just left. They're great helpers and decent cooks as well. The grand daughter baked me a peach pie, even scratched the crust. Her first ever. It was terrific.

I'm just off the phone with the fiber optic cable guy. It's up and running and will be installed here in 10 days. 200 times better than the taught cotton cord and tin can back home.

Walk and a trip to town for today's game plan.

Be well all.

On its way to 84, with moderately high humidity.  We're meeting my brother and his wife down at Portsmouth for lunch, first time I've seen him in several years.  Maybe some train work when we get back.

Good Afternoon Folks;

A very late check in for myself. I have been trying to teach myself how to day trade in an effort to make some pin money. However, instead I have officially joined the ranking of the 93% of people that end up losers. A very humbling and an expensive lesson. Oh well back to simply living within my means.

Well with that out of the way I decided to start a kit I bought from FOS a couple of years ago called The Engine House at Caldwell Junction. I have been scratch building most everything lately but need a small engine house for layout and thought this would fit fine. Apparently I have forgotten how fragile the materials are in these kits or times have changed since I last made one. 1/32 wood siding for some walls, others are the flimsy tack board I've seen used mostly for sidewalks. Cardboard for the sub roofs. I guess I have been overbuilding the structures I've scratch built. Oh well, I will try to be careful and not break anything. Besides it might give me ideas on cost cutting for future scratch builds.

Hope everyone had a good day. Except for realizing I will not be a financial titan and modeling is better suited for me I had a great day.

Jim

Afternoon all,

Well, I spent my afternoon booking next June's river cruise. It'll start with a couple of days in Lucerne before we head to the boat in Basel. The last stop will be in Nuremberg. My better half and I wished each other Happy Birthday, Merry Christmas, Happy Anniversary, Happy Mothers Day and Happy Fathers Day when we were done. ::)

Jim, I built that engine house for Cuse several years ago. The biggest problem I recall running into was the large door warped slightly when the layers were glued together.

Have a great one!

Bob, think about spending a day in Bern.  Of the major Swiss cities we visited (Basel, Bern, Geneva, Luzerne, and Zurich), we liked Bern the best (and Zurich the least.)  And maybe take the narrow gauge rack train up to Kleine Scheidegg.  And if you decide to do that, be sure to watch The Eiger Sanction movie before you go.
