Title: Wednesday, July 2, 2025
Post by: nycjeff on July 02, 2025, 09:22:58 AM
Good morning to all from the very warm desert. We've been above 110 degrees for the last few days- it's supposed to cool down to about 102 today. Summer is wildfire season here and there was one in my area yesterday. It spread to near the BNSF track that comes into Phoenix from northern Arizona. The railroad sent out some equipment to help fight the fire near the tracks.

Quiet by the lakeshore this morning. Just heard a loon close by.

It's only about 500 colder than nycjeff. Storms are coming later in the day.

79 heading to 86, humid and cloudy.  In a couple minutes, I take one of the dogs to the vet for dental work, including at least one extraction.  It's a common problems with toy poodles ("not much space in their jaws for all those teeth...")  The other dog will be very upset.

I should get down to the train room for a bit, although I haven't had much motivation the last couple of days.  Heat and particularly humidity just sucks the energy from me!

Morning all,

Yesterday's plumbing project ended up, surprisingly, being a success. But it took longer than anticipated and killed any motivation to hit the workbench.

Just came back from breakfast with friends so next up is yard work. Yuck.

Have a great one!

Good Afternoon Folks;

KS love the photo, wish I was up there today. In Central Florida we are warm and storms are approaching. Apparently we have a front that is stalling over us so expect up to 6 inches of rain next couple of days. Wish I could send an inch out to AZ, looks like they could use it.

This morning I had plans to continue on the engine house from FOS when as they say the train fell off the track. I had chores to do first, pressure washing the decks and repairing a floor fan. Pressure washer decide to break down as well so took the morning to take it apart (the wand), repairing parts that broke (washer is 35 year old and a couple of springs broke and the volume control value was frozen). Then take fan apart, clean, fix loose nuts and put back together again. Train is back on the tracks but the rain has now arrived! I timed that right didn't I  ;D ;D ;D.

Off to lunch and then 'work' on the engine house. Hope everyone has a great day.

Afternoon all,

Late check in today.  Slept late.  Out for a near three mile walk in the heat (90 degrees here now).  Otherwise a lazy day for me.

Good afternoon, all. Hazy sun and high 80s in the lower Merrimack Valley. Dave stopped by this morning with his pup, dropping off some Code 70 joiners in support of my street trackage project.  Other than that, I've pulled bittersweet and poison ivy, done my bookkeeping and now it's time for the Tax Collector and my bank.  Maybe back up in the attic after dinner.

Bob, I'm excited for your next trip...we're looking at maybe another Viking cruise next year too...but, otherwise, you're not the best salesman for retirement   ;D

Our one dog is back from the vet, less 2 (more) teeth, and my pocketbook is also a bit diminished.  But we're very glad to have her back home.  She should bounce back quickly.  The vet said she did very well through the procedure.
