Good Morning;
I've noticed most chatter has moved over to Gezzer's Lounge but I will open the day here. Could be breakfast is better there as I only have coffee on the stove ready. However I do have a nice morning view on back porch to enjoy.
Today I take the pups to be groomed and a dermatologist appointment in afternoon. Apparently we might get some rain later as well. I've been working on the FOS Engine House and hope to enjoy some bench time for that as well. Have a great day.

Good morning, Jim and all who follow,
Heading out for breakfast with friends this morning. Afterwards I'll mow the lawn if feasible. Yesterday we hit 100 so I hid indoors most of the day. Maybe some workbench time this afternoon.
Have a great one!
Good morning everyone.
Jim, thanks for the second cup and the looks like a great spot to relax.
It's going to be in the mid 90's again here in Hells Canyon.
I was going to stay a few more ays to do more hiking but it's just too hot.
Decided to leave today and head north whee it should be cooler.
Have a great day everyone.
Morning everyone
Jim thanks for the coffee.
That's a nice view.
Bob hope you make the bench today.
Weather in South Jersey is hot 95 again today.
Izzy to the groomer this morning.
Everyone have a great day!! :)

Good morning... One of my dogs went to the vet this morning for dental work. The other is a bit upset, missing her packmate. So I'll be spending some couch time with her. They're scheduled for grooming in 2 weeks.
Other than that, more hot weather today, cold front coming through and rain likely Friday, but the weekend looks nice.

I'll add some donuts and rolls to the coffee. Too hot to cook :P
Hard work in the 1:1 realm continues.
Speaking of 1:1IMG_2353.png
There's a lot of zeros in that! Lots of noise probably before it happens.
Have a good morning all!

I would think that pretty much is a monopoly now. I doubt it will be a plus for the customers.
Morning all,
Rainy hump day here, but much cooler. Nothing planned for today.

Can BNSF/CSX be far behind?
I've not seen or heard anything positive about rail service from the customer base since PSR. There sure is next to zero rail served business near me. Yet there are thru trains constantly.
Good afternoon, all. Yesterday York County ME got up to 95 or so, and I was out in it spiking switch timbers. Not much actual hammer swinging, we have a hydraulic power hammer. But it weighs 75 lb. if it weighs an ounce. So far today has been indoors except for tending the barn critters.
The past 40 years' consolidation of RRs has been good for the stockholders and intermodal customers, not so much for carload customers only switched by one RR. And of course the robber barons have returned, particularly the one guy who chased off 95% of the former B&M customers on the north side of Boston, so he could sell the abandoned Boston freight yards for condos and offices. He got the big check he was waiting for and immediately (in RR terms) sold the remains of the B&M and MEC to CSX.
This merger will also be good for intermodal customers, because RRs have a terrible time delivering good interline service. Pure home-road moves are almost always higher priority than anything interchanged. So finally there'll be run-throughs that bypass Chicago yards. And maybe UP/NS will control enough TRRA board seats to make St. Louis a more viable interchange (TRRA charges per car are why Chicago gets the lion's share of east-west interchange). I'll be following the process closely.
I had to look up TRRA: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terminal_Railroad_Association_of_St._Louis
Off to pick up Titus from the vet in a couple minutes. He lost 2 more teeth >:(

Afternoon all.....
The T.R.R.A. owns a railroad bridge and a bunch of freight yards, used to be the Edds (the first bridge across the Mississippi River) and Union Station. It moves all traffic thru the Missouri and Illinois areas around St. Louis.
