Morning all,
Happy Hump Day! Headed to 83 degrees here today.
Have a haircut scheduled for this morning, will probably mow this afternoon. After that a trip to the hardware store.
This is a reproduction P-64. It's odd as there were only six original P-64s, manufactured mainly for export, one of which is in the EAA museum in Oshkosh.

Good morning everyone.
Sunny and low 80's where I'm currently at but will be hotter in Spokane where I'm heading to today.
Jeff, thanks for another interesting photo.
Have a great day everyone.
Slightly cooler than yesterday and a small drop in humidity. 76 at 8:30 heading to 91.
There are a couple scheduled interruptions today, so I'm not sure how much I'll actually get done in the train room.

Fog this morning in Michigan and still warm. We had a strange wet substance fall from the sky yesterday for awhile. Rather prolific at times with heavily rumbling sounds and bright flashes of light.
Thanks for opening the lounge today, Jeff.
The plane was interesting. One I was not been aware of. I suppose with that few produced. There less opportunity for "rivit counters" to critique a repop. What an amazing task that would be. :o
Enjoy the day all.

Still muggy in anthracite land this morning.
Long list of "stuff" on the TDL (To-Do List), but I WILL make time for the basement today for more than the install of a new dehumidifier.
Keep smiling!
Good morning, all. With most windows open after sunset, my house cooled off nicely yesterday evening. It'll hold much of that cool through this hot day and I choose dinners that cook quickly in this weather.
I'm not going to the Trolley Museum today because I got baked to "well done" Monday and Tuesday. Thursday is forecast for at least some clouds and cooler. But I do have some outside work to do, and soon the oak tree will completely shade the equipment shed. It'll be much more pleasant to put that off till afternoon
I got this today from (UK Company) ModelU:
Important Notice 🚨 for Our U.S. Customers |
|
From 29 August 2025, new U.S. import rules mean every overseas parcel sent by post will face a flat $80 import duty per item – no matter the value. Unfortunately, this means we will no longer be able to ship orders directly to U.S. customers under our current model. We will continue accepting U.S. orders until midnight (UK time) on Sunday 24 August. From the week beginning 25 August, we will temporarily pause U.S. orders while we work to establish a U.S.-based stockist or distribution partner. This will allow us to continue offering our products to you without the burden of excessive import fees.
If you've had your eye on something – place your order before the 24 August deadline to avoid the new charges. Thank you for your understanding and for your support over the years. We're committed to finding the right U.S. partner so we can get Modelu products back into your hands as soon as possible. |

This is the end of the long-standing de minimus customs exemption for shipments valued at less than $800. Yesterday I read something similar from a developer of small-volume musical electronics who'd been getting his circuit boards built in China. That made it sound like anything you want in the near term from WeHonest, for instance, should be ordered by tomorrow (Thursday 14th August).
Good afternoon. That's interesting that someone would build a replica of such a rare aircraft. Nice photo, Jeff.
I was scheduled for aortic valve replacement surgery yesterday afternoon, but because of complications with an earlier patient, my surgery was cancelled. I don't know when I'll be back on the schedule and can go through all the fasting again. Meanwhile, I'm having to do a redo on a club project because of a design change. I'd like to make some progress on one of these fronts.
