Title: Is anyone using the old Digitrax PM4?
Post by: friscomike on August 24, 2025, 12:30:23 PM
Howdy folks,

Is anyone using the old Digitrax PM4 on their layout?  I'm interested in your experiences with it, if you have.

I have a new in-the-box Digitrax PM4 from 20 years ago and would like to use it. I'd like to connect the old PM4 to an Acculite PM42 breakout board, but I don't know if the PM4 is compatible with the Acculite board.  The Digitrax PM4 upgrade kit is not available, so I am stuck with the PM4 original.  Have folks who used or are using the PM4 had problems with them?

Have fun,
mike

Mike,

I've never used this product. It is no longer available and is now replaced by the PM42.

I know this didn't answer your question but just FYI for you.

Mike,

I have no experience with the PM4 because I have never used one.  I do have a PM42 that has been working flawlessly since 2007.

Howdy folks,

Thanks, Tom and Ron, for replying.  It looks like the PM4 and PM42 are mostly the same, with timing adjustments in the main chip. I'll go ahead and use the PM4 for reversing loops and the turntable.

Have fun,
mike
