Morning all,
Another nice day here, sunny and headed to 81 degrees.
One estimate in hand, another coming in today. Hope the other two are done by Monday so we can decide and get this work done before winter.
Some household chores on tap today. I only have a three day weekend as I work Monday, but that's only a four hour day. Then a week off so I can go to the Narrow Gauge Convention. :)

Cloudy and cool, 63 heading to 71. Shows/rain likely this afternoon, and we really need the rain! Today and tomorrow is the local Greek Festival, we always go for the food. There's a line to get in, which means we could be standing in the rain.
Dr Jeff, enjoy the reduced work hours.
Yesterday I knocked out the first draft of my slides for the 'Dover Architecture' talk and sent them to my brother the architect for a check-up. I'm sure I'll revise those a bit over the next 2 weeks, but the general shape is there, and I think it should go pretty well, although there's almost 50 slides of photos to discuss. I'll have to keep the narration tight.

Bright sun 8) in Michigan this morning with a Chill in the air, mid 40s, temps headed to mid 60s.
Try and take it easy day here. We'll see where it goes.
Big weekend is here, drive safely and watch yourselves in construction. A trucker crashed into another SUV on the I-96 job two days ago. Been almost weekly all summer with that project... :-\ Just S of GR an oversized load hit an overpass so hard it displaced the support beam a couple of feet.
Starlink has been a good change. So fast compared to the old copper wire 'dsl' from the local monopoly buster provider.
Enuf from me! Be well all.

Good morning, Jeff, Dave, Karl and those who come later. Mt. Pleasant, IA is mostly cloudy and hasn't warmed up yet. Maybe 80-ish later. The trolleys have been going since 7. My shift today is 11-3.
Yesterday I took a look at the Old Threshers' "Steam Powerhouse" (there are stationary diesels too). Turns out they have an operating belt-driven machine shop. I sent Dave a few photos but can't get them off my phone and onto the forum till I get home.
Good Morning Folks;
Well I am on my second cup of coffee and checking up what is going on in the world. Weather in central Florida this morning was nice 75 (23c) but heading up to over 90 again today. Still sitting on the porch enjoying coffee is a great way to start the day. I plan on working on the layout today as well as continuing finishing up the Engine House project. I made the warehouse doors for it yesterday, the one's in the kit could not be straightened being too flimsy.
My photo of the day is my wife and I getting ready to fly to Maine in 2010. Taken in front of the Cirrus SR22 G2 we owned. It was the best cross country plane I ever flew. 175 knots (190 miles per hour), it could fly over 4 hours with instrument reserves, had full de-icing and allowed us to go where and when we wanted. Little did I know when this picture was taken it would be the last trip I would fly a plane. Physical issues, financial concerns, blah, blah blah would result in selling the plane. Still it was a great way to end an incredible 30 plus years of flying.
Hope everyone has a great day.
Jim

But I can post those photos for you, James...

My comment to James was "the floor looks too clean", most machine shop (color) photos I've seen have floors stained by oil, fine shavings, etc from the operation of the machines.

Good morning all. We just finished a trip to Costco and next is a walk.
Jim, that's a great way to travel. Just relax and enjoy the scenery, no shouting at the idiots in the lanes around you. How many pilots have made their last flight not realizing it was their last flight?

Terrific looking aircraft, Jim. I learned to fly in college, the Michigan State Winged Spartans and while I enjoyed it I was never completely comfortable with it. I then embarked on life and couldn't afford to continue.
Watching aviation videos now I see how geometrically more complex and costly it is to be a safe pilot I'm glad I've remained earthbound. Although one might argue with just how well grounded :o

Afternoon all,
I've been busy replacing some rotten wood around on the the train shed doors. I had to use my reciprocating saw to cut above the bad wood. The door can't be opened as layout benchwork is up against the inside.
Anyway the repair is made and now I need to seal it all.
Have a great day ya'll.
Tom
Afternoon all,
My big adventure for the day was going to Home Depot to pick up 10 bags of mulch. I got them to the backyard but haven't opened them yet. One thing at a time.
Have a great one!

Bob last year during the hurricane we had 4 bags of mulch that floated into the yard from somewhere.
