Title: Sunday, November 23, 2025

Morning all,

Barely above freezing this morning but headed to 58 for a high.

Didn't get much accomplished train wise yesterday, though the 2-8-0's wheels got cleaned and lubricated.  It now runs quite smoothly (and quieter since I reset the sound parameters).  Maybe we'll get another loco looked at today.

Hawkeyes won on a last second field goal.  Hope the Patriots can win today as well.

Will probably haul up the "Hanukkah Bush", my father's quip for the Christmas Tree, and get it set up over the next day or two.

Sorry Jeff, taking until the last second to beat Sparty isn't an overwhelming endorsement. It seems our hockey crew stumbled against Wisconsin as well.

Bright sun and hard frost outside here in mid Michigan. It looks like a nice day on hand. I've not checked on Lions game time. They're not recovered offensively yet to be real enthusiastic about them.

Enjoy the day all. Colder weather is coming.

Well, it was sunny for a bit, turned cloudy.  Still a bit chilly, 40 at noon in SE NH, and that'll be today's high as a cold front moves through.

I took the big clamp off the machine shop, and then did a test fit on the foundation.  I'm using small bar clamps to temporarily hold the back wall into position to look at how much to add to each end.  Plus I dampened the foundation/concrete slab piece for the boiler room, because it warped again.  I'll have to carefully but rigorously (strong wood glue) that piece into position once it flattens out, and hope it doesn't warp again.   Typical kit/structure problems.

I did hear back from Don Tichy on my request to buy a bunch of glazing pieces for the window castings in that kit.  I looted my stash, so these will replace the glazing I took from castings.

And as I look out the window, some moron stopped and decided to back up towards the blind curve on our street.  Fortunately, there's not much traffic here, but if someone else turned that corner, there could have been a Bang.

Afternoon crew.

Was busy this morning finishing up the air filter project. It's running right now.

Back in October I mentioned this project and showed the equipment that'll be used.

Link here to the first pictires. https://modelersforum.com/index.php?topic=7237.msg193732#msg193732 (https://modelersforum.com/index.php?topic=7237.msg193732#msg193732)

I din't record the whole build, just the begining.

This was my meager attempt at dust control. Major fail.

Planning down the 2" X 4" to 1.5" X 3".

Kicks out a lot of sawdust plus the micro dust that settles all over any horizontal surface plus clinging to spider webs.

Anybody need any sawdust to make grass the old fashion way? Free shipping for a container load.  ;D

The finished air filter running. It has a set of casters on the bottm for easy roll-a-round.

So that project is done.

Now I've got to install the duct fan because I'll be building a couple of kitchen cabinets and I'll need to vent the air outside from the polyurethane odor. Hopefully this will keep the smell from reaching the living quarters.

Now back to my Heisler project. Been working on the second joint cup. I'll be posting pictures once I get it done and running.

Good afternoon, all.  My weather is as Dave said.  Helped with the turkey slaughter this morning, now drying my feet before picking an afternoon job.  Bernd, that is a lot of sawdust and chips for inside a dwelling. My metal shop is in my heated mudroom, my wood shop is next to the barn (think big house, little house, back house, barn).

James has a typical New England 'expanded farm house'...

Afternoon all,

Football on the TV. Think I'll pull out the workbench. Think I'll work on Shakey's a bit. I'm in the roofing phase of the build. That's not my favorite part of a build but I'll get it done.

Have a great one!
