Title: Tuesday, December 16, 2025
Post by: Zephyrus52246 on December 16, 2025, 08:05:42 AM
Morning all,

Headed to thirty nine degrees today.  After the weekend's below zero stuff, it will seem spring like.

Paid $120 to the plumber to tell me the water heater is fine.  Hopefully now the wife will think it's fine as well.

Trip to Goodwill and the grocery store this morning, meeting with financial person later to figure out stuff for retirement.

More cleaning of the downstairs on tap as well.

Two views of a structure from the convention.

Sun this morning and the promise of it being warmer, mid 30s up from the morning teens.

Rx to fetch sometime is about it.

Ok, I'm back to posting.  A couple weeks ago, a post really angered me, and I decided it was time to step away for a while.  (I still read posts and did my moderator duties.)

The Machine Shop project is almost done, I'll post some updates in the next couple of days.

Karl, sorry to hear about your cat.

Jeff, we preemptively replaced our water heater last year.  It was a conventional propane tank, we went with a tankless heater.  That should last longer, and we don't have to worry about running out of hot water.  (Running out of gas is a whole 'nuther issue.)  It does take a bit longer for the hot water to come out, but the savings in propane seem to be significant.  (I don't have enough data to really 'measure' but my gut says our propane use may be down by 1/3, since we're only using propane when we actually need hot water, or for cooking...)

Jeff

I believe that this wonderful diorama is by Gil Flores. It shared the table with my work at MARPM in the fall.

Good morning, Jeff, Karl, Dave, Matt  and those arriving later. NH seacoast has bright sun and temp heading for 32. Snow's gone from pavement here, Wed-Fri are forecast to be much warmer.  No modeling yet, maybe after lunch.

Mornin,' All!

28, feels like 28, headed for 36 (!!!) and very still out there under the northern mitten grey blanket today.  Gale warnings are still in effect, so....  It is what it is....

Orthopod visit yesterday produced a requirement for a series of cortisone shots and a "we'll see" analysis.  Bursitis and arthritis... who knew?  Shots start tomorrow, so perhaps I'll be able to go down to the layout this week and do stuff I should have been able to do weeks ago.  Perhaps....

Make it a great day, All, and stay safe!

Well guys you did it now! I'm looking at my hot water heater and wondering about it! I remember dragging the new one down the steps, opening the box and it had a giant dent in it. Returned it to Lowes and made them open the replacement before checkout. 2002 Maybe GULP....

Pete, I had a steroid 7 day treatment that cured me so far. The pain was so bad and was hobbling around. I need a new hip. I hope you find relief!

Great model Jeff!

Philip,

Thanks for the kind words.  My Orthopod replaced my other hip in 2016... knows what he's doing and is good at it, so I'm hopeful.

Stay safe!

I got a subrogation form from my Medicare Supplement carrier, wanting to know if I had an accident, was covered by workers compensation, etc.  It asked for "cause of accident/injury".  I wrote "old age!"

Good Afternoon;

Late check in for me today but wanted to catch up. The cold weather made it down to FLorida last night. Of course is a relative term we made it down to 43 but up to 67 now.

My bride is back from her trip to Europe with the rowing club group she is part of, it is great to have her back. Tonight we will meet up with my daughter for dinner and gift exchange since for Christmas the Mrs. and I are heading out on a cruise.

Not much else going on, I keep busy with stuff around the house and my current bench project, the prototype lift bridge I am making using CAD and printing the parts using the 3D resin printer. At this time I have completed the lift section of the bridge and am now working on designing the rolling lift section. He is a photo of the computer design and what came together after gluing the printed parts together. I only needed to make 13 separate sections for this part of the bridge.

Nothing much got accomplished here today. Maybe tomorrow.
