Wednesday evening December 17, 2025, Bill fell and fractured his left hip bone.
Yesterday, he had hip surgery in a procedure called hip nailing surgery. Basically he had a screw inserted to secure/align the fractured bones.
I spoke to Bill last evening and although a bit tired, he is in good spirits. He expects to be back in several weeks. He has a road of recovery and rehab.
Last night Bill said to me, "Merry Christmas to me". I said, " You should have given yourself a train and not a hip fracture."
Tom
Tom, thanks for letting us know.
I hope Bill is resting comfortably and is up and about and BS'ing again very soon.
Dang, Sorry to hear Tom.
Very sorry to hear about your fall and Fx Bill. I hope the rehab goes well and you're back on your feet before you know it.
Tell The Judge we all hope he recovers quickly! And he can use the downtime to come up with more stories... (Make sure he has a voice recorder app on his phone for when inspiration strikes.)
(Seriously, when I saw the subject, I was afraid it might have been something worse than just a fall...)

Dave,
You are correct, I changed it to read fall and recovery.
Tom
Sorry to hear about the fall and I hope Bill has a speedy recovery. It could have been much worse.
Sorry for the Judge's mishap. That is not going to be enjoyable to recover from. Wish him well.
Ever yone else take care.
WOW! Sorry to hear about Bill's mishap.
Tell him I wish him well and I say a little pray for a speedy recovery.
Now he can work on more stories for us.
Jerry
Hopefully he will be up and around and regaling us with more stories in the near future. Get well soon, Judge!
Jeff
Dreadful news about Bill (Judge). I hope his rehab goes well
terry
Awful news anytime but especially right before Xmas. Hopefully Bill will recover quickly so he can return to the A & S.
sorry to hear Judge...keep your chin up and we'll see you soon at the next bull session
John
Sorry to hear the Judge fell; hope he has a quick and simple recovery!
Terrible news but sounds like the surgery went well. Best hopes
TomO
I spoke to Bill and Cindy yesterday and he is in good spirits. I gave him a pep talk about rehab. It won't be easy but I told him not to be a victim of the fall and surgery.
These trains don't run without him at the throttle.
Tom
Tom so sorry to hear about the Judge. You're a good friend and I'm sure a much needed positive perspective on his situation. Hope he has a complete and speedy recovery.
Sorry to hear about the Judge Tom. Hope all goes well for him with the rehab and recovery.
Thank you all for the well wishes. I spoke to Bill yesterday and his recovery is slow as he is still very sore from the hip surgery.
He has been working with the rehab and PT folks. The recovery will be hard but he is working at it.
Tom
Great news Tom. Stay with it Bill. The PT is worth the pain.
Tom, please pass on a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to Bill!
I called Bill yesterday to wish him a Merry Christmas. He is doing fine and sounded in great spirits.
He said the PT is going well but slow. They told him if he keeps at it he will be released to go home for home PT January 5, 2026.
Tom
That's great news for Bill and hope he recovers quickly and well.
Thinkin' of ya, Bill...keep up the hard work
terry
For Bill, getting back home will be an epiphany ;)
(Speaking of 'going home', some of you might remember wife's niece's daughter, born 3 months premature. Looks like she'll be coming home around Jan 15, about 2 weeks after the original due date.)
dave
That's great news, sounds like the recovery is going well.
Dave, it sounds like the little one is doing well also, I bet her parents can't wait to bring here home.
Looking forward to seeing the Judge up and around...please pass on my best wishes when you can Tom.
John
Please let the Judge know Deb and I wish him speedy recovery. Deb herself is scheduled for another knee replacement the 8th. Same right knee as last year. Original doctor blew it and now a specialist has to replace everything and get it right second time. She is not a happy camper.

Jim, very sorry to hear The Boss has to go through another knee surgery. I wish her a speedy recovery as well.
Thanks all for Bill's speedy recovery well wishes. I speak with him daily and he is doing very well. He has been working on getting in and out of the car. They have a vehicle mockup at rehab.
He walks a little further each day. Rehab is twice daily, morning and afternoon.
I'll continue to pass on our well wishes to him.
Tom
I'm glad Bill is doing well.
Sounds like bill is doing well, that's great to hear.
Tom
Please pass on my well wishes to the Judge for a speedy and full recovery.
John
Glad to read Bill is making some progress with his rehab.
Bill is now home and recovering well. He has a great attitude but says the road to full recovery will be long.

Jeff

Jerry
Good news, Tom, and thanks.
What they all said.
I talked to Bill aka The Judge on the phone yesterday...he has a good attitude, is in good spirits but hasn't been out of the house since he got out of the hospital...I sensed a case of cabin fever.
terry
Terry,
Thanks for the update on Bill, good to hear that he is in good spirits.
