Hello everyone,
A (still) work in progress of mine, as i have to fill in the details. An art deco / streamline moderne gas station. This is based on a kit of mine (original design, 3d printed kit), that is currently in storage somewhere. Soon it will take it's place on the new layout. I am still on the fence on if i should go for an actual brand at the time (like Phillips 66) for the layout or something made-up.
Thanks for stopping by!
Yannis
This is the completed structure with many details missing (in the meantime i have designed and printed era-correct vending machines and gas pumps)

and the kit parts before assembly.

Interesting looking gas station.
I love it. Art deco rocks. Mark
Curt and Craftsmankits many thanks!
Grand!
Nice. Personally, I'd choose a real brand of gas rather than make one up. It engages a broader audience; A gas station is something more people are likely to remember 50 years later than the freight car being unloaded behind it.

. Look forward to seeing the details.
I like the idea of using a brand name.
Great looking station! Art Deco is my favorite style of architecture.

Thank you all for the very kind words! I ll opt for an actual brand name then, many thanks for the suggestion Deem and James.
Yannis,
Art Deco is an architectural style that I really like and your gas station really fits the style. Looking forward to seeing the details added.
Many thanks Ron for the reply. Art Deco & Streamline moderne are my favorite styles! Actually it is the primary reason why i picked the Pasadena subdivision, ie being able to scratchbuild a lot of them for the layout.
Beautiful model. It captures that early 20th Century look.
That is a terrific looking gas station.
I have a partially finished kit of a Art Deco Mobilgas station in the 'archieves of neglected projects'
The Doll and I are in deep into petroliana, and appreciate all the mid century, pre and post WW-II elements of the gas and oil business.
Karl and Michael many thanks!
Some info on details that i am working on...
A vending machine from the 60s.

Very nice.

Yannis,
Following along and enjoying the updates. 3D printers sure have changed the hobby.
Tom
What CAD are you using?
Jerry and Tom many thanks!
Indeed 3d printing helps when you want repeatability. If i wanted to make one i could do scratchbuilt with styrene rather faster than 3d printing, with the exception ofcourse of tiny object such as the vending machine and the gas pumps.
Karl: I am using Blender and Nomad 3d
