Title: My disappearance
Post by: Dave Buchholz on April 02, 2026, 02:28:33 PM
Some may have noticed a lack of posts from me. Im battling cancer. Specifically, I'm battling a massive sarcoma in my left leg. It is swollen and painful to walk, much less get up and down the basement steps. Im doing radiation daily, with surgery upcoming at a future date. Then comes learning how to walk again.

 Please keep me in your prayers.

Wow, not fun!  Stop by as you feel up to it, and let us know how it's going.  Comments on other people's work are always appreciated, when you can't get down to your own layout.

Dave;

So sorry for the news and learning what you are going through. Deb and I wish you all the best in your on-going battle. It sounds like the doctors have a good plan in place. Prayers for a speedy recovery and hopefully you can continue to join in our community of modelers, sharing your thoughts and keeping us informed of your progress.

Best Wishes

Best wishes, Dave!  Several years ago one of my local guys had a nasty cancer of some sort on his leg, and was given six weeks to six months to live.  The decision to amputate was made, and they "cut him off at the knee" or words to that effect.  He showed up at last Wednesday evening's Op Session, ran a train, had a ball and stayed late.  And I should probably note that he turned 91 in January....  Life is Good!  May you have the best recovery possible, quickly, completely and permanently.

Surgery is upcoming on May27/ The doctor reserved the room for 8 hours, the whole day.
 The cancer of the sarcoma appears to have eroded into the femur of my left thigh. Th doctors plan is to do "One and Done". about a 95% chance the hip femur and knee will be totally bionic by Wednesday evening. His concern is leaving femur that is unknowingly already involved, not showing on the last MRI. Both of us only want ONE operation and recovery. If the surgery is limited to the lower half of the Femur and Knee replacement, that would be a blessing. But we wont know with certainty until the leg is actually opened up, and the sarcoma removed so that closer observation of the upper femur can be assessed.

 Keep me in your prayers. Growing old is not for Sissies.
