Title: Wednesday, May 6, 2026
Post by: Zephyrus52246 on May 06, 2026, 08:07:45 AM
Morning all,

Cool here today with a high of only 58 F.

Best Buy geeks will be here sometime to "run diagnostics" on the TV.  I'll be interested to see how they do that on a TV that is dead.  At least their window has changed from "8 to 5" to "8 to noon".

I think I have the layout for the rest of the backdrop figured out.  Will look it over again and send in the order today.

Maybe a trip to Lowe's to get some paint to match the sky on the backdrop as well.

Morning all and all others,

That's it from me today.

Have a great day ya'll.

It's good to see the progress Dr (ret) Jeff is making.  I wish I could make that same claim.  Mebbe today I'll get something done in the train room.

Early sun  8) and 40s going to 50s.  Clouds arriving off and on later.

Layout stuff and bench today.  Finishing up a non sound decoder install.

Be well.

Good morning, Jeff, Tom, Dave, Karl and those busy elsewhere. Overcast and 70s in the lower Merrimack Valley. Rain is forecast later but it was warm enough at breakfast I opened a couple of windows.  No biting bugs yet, but storms will have to come off and screens go on soon.  Also apple blossom time here.

Paperwork on the agenda, plus laundry. Dinner with family and a visitor I've known since she was quite young tonight. She's traveling to buy goats, which she will take home in her Subaru.  I know a fair number of people in that general vein.

Greetings from Puerto Rico;

My bride and I are on a 7 day cruise to celebrate our Anniversary and her birthday (and Mother's Day) all rolled up as one trip. It has been a pleasant trip all around and I am catching up on my reading. Weather here is 90, breezy and white puff clouds, great day.

Have a great day.

James, I'd like to see a picture of "Goats in a Subaru"...  That does sound very backwoods VT/NH/ME.

I got one thing done today, but it was fussy work!  A couple years ago, I did an automated ball signal.  When I took that to the local NMRA meet to demonstrate the signal and its Arduino controller, the top arm of the ball signal broke loose.  That made me realize it wasn't very strong in the first place.

So today I dug that out, and carefully drilled holes (using my drill press and a #78 drill bit) for .015 'pins' on both the top and bottom arms.  (This from the original assembly...)

They're loading the goats 47 air miles WNW of me and heading straight for upstate NY.  I'll see if they'll send me a picture.

Because it's NH, the goats are 90 minutes drive away; NH highways either connect residents with their jobs in MA, MA vacationers to the mountains, or legislators to Concord.
