Title: Last Tuesday in July 2026 Lounge
Post by: jbvb on July 28, 2026, 07:35:28 AM
A quick opening today: Rolls, fresh bread, cold cereal and muffins on the counter, oatmeal in the kettle plus baskets of new apples and peaches.  Hand Tamper blend coffee and hot water urns warming up, juice and milk in the fridge.

Cloudy and cool on the NH seacoast, 40% chance of a little rain in the afternoon. My teenager signed up for a 10-mile race this evening, so no working late at Seashore.  Layout time highly unlikely.

Well, I hope your son will wear a life preserver for his evening run.  Weather report is for rain here this afternoon/evening.

I got some more trees laid down, and ordered some more tufts and related supplies due in a couple days.  So I'm finally making progress.

Today I read an obituary for John H White, Jr, the Smithsonian's railroad historian.  His books are The Standard Reference on 19th century cars (passenger and freight, in 2 coffee table books.)  https://www.trains.com/trn/railroads/history/john-h-white-jr-dean-of-american-railroad-historians-dies-at-92/

Morning all,

Hope Tom's surgery went well yesterday.

Cooler today with a high in the 80s.  Some local Weatherunderground.com stations have had heat indicies in the 120s the last two days.  Nasty weather where my son lives in Appleton, WI yesterday.  He had some tree damage, but nothing else.

I have a trip to Costco planned for later this morning and getting the van washed later.

Working on a kit, should probably start a thread on that.

Jeff

We had 2 rounds of rain yesterday. .5" the first and what looks like .1-.2" during the night. No more for a few days.

Some bench time later? Time will tell

Enjoy the day all.

I just figured out why I post so late here.
I read JVB's breakfast menu above and realized that as a Keystoner, I'd have to include scrapple on the menu. I don't need to try to make enemies; it just comes naturally.
Tuesady Night Round Robin tonight at one of my favorite layouts. The day can't be all bad when you end it with an ops session.

Morning all,

Did someone mention scrapple? I had some a few weeks back when we were in PA. Love the stuff!

I had PT this morning. Think I may mow the yard a day early if I can get up from the recliner.

Have a great one!
