Title: Wednesday August 12,2026

Morning.. I was able to get a coat of paint on the lower hull of the lobster boat build yesterday. I'll give it a day to cure before doing the upper half. Cool here this morning, hopefully will be a little cooler as the week finishes off.

Good Morning;

Coffee Pot is on, listening to the morning grasshoppers while enjoying the back porch. Oh one of the pups is draped across my lap. So does not get better than this.

I will have a good amount of time today to work at the bench since not much on the work schedule today. I do have a doctor visit but should be routine. Where we live I don't even drive there, instead we have a golf cart and one of the main cart only roads that run through our Village will take me over a bridge and there I am, three minutes.

Good to see you Dan!. Hope everyone has a great day.

Jim

Howdy!

A few days ago I told Raymo I tried the raised position once. That Jordan is pictured here  ;D It was a fun build. For the life of me I do not recall how I painted the engraved company name (CITY COAL & ICE) on the truck's box. The kit comes with the box engraved.

Later.

Hazy bright, upper 60s going to mid 80s in Michigan with mix bag of meteorological phenomena expected.  Heavy storms to our South yesterday and we just had a moistening of the sidewalk.

I trimmed trees for a couple hours yesterday, the new mini saw worked well.  Sore today so EZ is on my plans for today.

Nice truck model.  I enjoy your trucks, Raymo.

Morning all,

Nice job on that truck, Jaime!

I'm working up the energy to do my PT exercises before mowing the lawn. :P It's gonna be hot out there today. Guess I'd better get moving.

Have a great one!

It's a bit cooler and drier now compared to the last week or so.  So That's A Good Thing.

I've been doing a dive into machining, talking to some people (over at MRH forums) about absolute beginner investments, etc.  The best single advice I got (from Bernd) was to watch the Blondihacks videos.  She has a great pair of absolute beginner videos.  My big take-away was "Figure out what you want to make first, then figure out the investments to do that."

More scenery today, I think.  Yesterday I glued the plastic 'rock strata' onto the stream walls, using hot glue.  Today I'll prime those.  One thing I'm pondering right now is how to install AND SEAL bridge abutments in the stream bed so I could eventually do a 'water pour'.

Morning all,

Slept late as we had a couple of rounds of storms during the night which woke me up.  High of 86 later.

Worked on a couple of shake the box kits.  I have several more, especially some Intermountain gondolas.  I discovered many of them have no included weights.  I seem to recall at the end of the "shake the box" era, the price of the steel weights had gone up and thus, no weights are included.  I may need to buy some lead sheet.

Great looking Coal truck, Jaime.

Jeff
