Title: Terry’s version of Horwood Bros
Post by: Vietnam Seabee on September 05, 2026, 10:22:59 AM
While Tom has building his version of Horwood Bros and providing a great SBS, I've been building my version concurrently but have been neglectful in posting any updates at all...until now

Howdy Terry, the gas station model and accompanying structures look fantastic.  Nice work!  ~mike

Terry very well done; that's quite a large model much larger than I thought.

I'm giving some thought to paving materials for the drive/parking area and street area

SETT Cobblestone, Old Cobblestone, Concrete Plates and damaged asphalt...

I'm leaning towards Sett Cobblestone for the drive/parking and the old cobblestone for the street.

All are laser cut sheets from Monster Modelworks on sale this weekend.

Any thoughts?

Terry I like the first 2. I do think 4 would look very good in a dilapidated building.

I like #1

The top one looks like cobblestones.  The bottom one would work for slate sidewalks.  The other two don't make sense as paving.

The drive/entry area paving went down yesterday...thank goodness for Monster Modelworks laser sheet goods.

Next up I think the gas pumps and begin the white metal details ;-((

Howdy Terry,

The pavement looks fantastic.  You did a nice job marrying it to the excellent station.

Have fun,
mike

Thanks curt and mike...I did a couple of sample pieces...I wanted a different color than the concrete building floors and sidewalks. Both use the same three Rembrandt colors/alcohol but the building floors/sidewalk concrete was primed gray automotive color and the drive area was not primed with anything
