Great Looking Kit...ordered mine!
Alan
I ordered two of "Oyster Rocks". No, I'm not speculating- one is for my neighbor Jack- we are just saving some shipping costs. I think the kit has great "curb appeal".
I was able see the kit in person with my son and it was awesome to see it up close. The design of this kit is incredible. Get one before their gone.
The kit looks great!
That is truly spectacular. Well done Doug!!
John
I love how it looks the way the builder did it, a bit of a shame the sea walls are not included , to me they are an essential part of this scene.
The sea walls in the new kit are simply pink foam painted with a concrete color and then stained wood trim. Unless you mean you would rather have stone sea walls...

Okay thanks for that info.
I really like it but still don't have a place for the last two super kits Doug put out. :'( :'( :'(
Tom ;D
Ordered mine today, looks like I,m going to sleep in the living room from now on ;)
I'm tempted. I like the way it follows the hill. I don't need an Oyster company, but could change the signage. His note on facebook says half are gone already.
Jeff
Any news as to when this awesome kit will start shipping? Looking forward to building it.....
Brad
I've heard some of the early order-placers have received notification they have been shipped.
I hope so! I ordered mine November 4th!
Has anyone heard when this kit is shipping.
Doug sent an email confirming that my kit status changed to "shipped" on the 31st. The USPS tracking notification indicates that the package left Pawcatuck, CT on the 5th.
Looking forward to getting this kit!!

Same as mine! Looks like a lot of just slightly late christmas presents

I know someone who received theirs but it wasn't me.
Haven't received an email yet, so I guess it's not been shipped yet.
I haven't received an e-mail yet, so was just curious.

Got my email today!!!!
Got my email today...... WOO HOO!
I hear some bought more than one kit. That'll make a huge scene.
Jaime
Got mine! ;D

Got mine today, too!! Looks incredible...another winner, Doug!

I'm writing this to gauge other modelers past experience when they've ordered from Fos Scale Models. I've purchased a number of kits from FOS over the years with no issues, including some of their bigger kits, but my experience in ordering the new Oyster Hill kit has been terrible.
I ordered the Oyster Hill kit on November 4th, so my order was an early one. On December 31st, I received two emails from FOS. The first was a note showing that the order was in pending status. The second was a notice showing that the kit had shipped and included a link to my order information. The link in the email was a dead link. On January 7th, I still had not received my kit, so I called and sent an email to FOS. I received an email back saying that there was a problem at the post office but that the kit was on its way. It's now January 13th and I still have not received my kit, even though it was supposed to have been shipped by January 7th, at the latest. I called FOS and emailed them yesterday. I explained that I still want the kit and that I chose this kit over the big Bar Mills kit this year, which is now sold out. I've received no response.
In addition, I logged into the FOS website and looked up my order for this kit. The status of my order is now back to "pending", so it doesn't look like my kit was ever shipped. I checked the FOS Facebook page, and it shows that all of these kits were supposed to have been shipped by this week.
I'm disappointed and ticked that I spent my big kit money this year and have nothing to show for it.
Mark
I don't speak for Fos. But, I've not had a bad experience with my Fos purchases. I hope Fos will provide a responds to your query.
I ordered my kit and have received it already. It was one week from my notice of shipment to the delivery of my kit. When I received my kit I sent an email to Fos and I received a response a little over a day later.
I surmise Doug is quite busy getting the kits sorted out. Hang in there and welcome to the forum.
Jaime
Mark,
Interesting! It would appear that there has indeed been a problem at the Post Office. This is the current status of my order:
Mark,
I wouldn't sweat it. I've ordered literally $1000s of kits from Doug and they are always slow to arrive. I too ordered the Oyster Hill kit within the 1st 1/2 hour Doug launched the kit...I bought it on my cell phone in the car on a way to an appointment...and I still haven't even received an email saying he's thinking about sending my kit out. I know we've all come accustom to getting fantastic customer service in todays world but unfortunately Doug is a one man operation so it's going to be slow... I also ordered the Bar Mills big kit at about the same time that I ordered the Oyster Hill Kit and I got that Bar Mills kit in the mail about a month ago...but it doesn't nearly look as neat as Doug's kit. You made the right choice...just hang in there...
Alan
Haven't had an email yet , how far is Doug down the list.
I need to issue a public apology to Mark (bandofan).
I was not very helpful to Mark in the post he made at rr-line regarding this very topic. I was actually snarky in my remarks to Mark.
I'd post the apology over at rr-line but that thread has been closed by the moderators at rr-line.
I was wrong and hope Mark accepts my apology.
I do hope Mark had been able to reach Doug at Fos to resolve his predicament.
Jaime
My Oyster Hill kit finally arrived today.
Long wait but looks to be a very nice kit and I'm pleased I bought it.
Brian,
Did you get an email ahead of time saying your kit was shipped? I haven't heard a peep from Doug in 30 days...and still waiting on my kit. According to his Facebook post, all kits were suppose to ship by the end of this week.
Alan
Today I received both kits that I had ordered from Doug. They were shipped to me on 12/31/14,.
I was at that time given a tracking # from the post office. I went to the post office web site entered the tracking # & I asked the post office to e-mail me shipping updates. They started sending me up dates right away & within a week the kits wre here. Please do not blaim Doug. He just shipped them out & it is up to the post office to deliver them. Anyone having trouble getting their kits should sign up for shipment updates.
The kits look great. Once again Doug has done great joob

bandofan should probably just chill- it sounds like kits are showing up every day, and it appears that the USPS is taking its time in some cases. Surprise, surprise! I hope that the impatient but noisy few are the first ones to jump in with build threads when they get their kits. Or maybe they are in a hurry to get on eBay?
I cannot agree with the last commentator.....
Having built Red Hook Wharf and Execution Rocks on both forums I am both patient and certainly not noisy.
In my trade - internet tour operator - if I take an order with payment for an airline ticket I have to issue the ticket immediately.
My wife ordered the kit on 4 November - order #6452 - and paid $359 including shipping to the UK. The money was charged to her card straight away. The kit was intended as a Christmas present for me. In the event my wife "bought" some smaller FOS kits from me that I had exchanged for a OOP RSM kit with another forum member, in order to give me a Christmas present.
My birthday is next week and as the FOS Oyster Hill is still pending, she is now doing a similar exercise and "buying" off me the SRM Tucker & Cook kit which I ordered on 31 December which arrived today.
My wife has become very frustrated over the whole process and while I love the FOS kits it may well be that she decides to place her Christmas/Birthday present order elsewhere in future against my best wishes.
FOS kits are great but I think Doug should take a leaf out of Bob VG's book and build up demand for the kit with a teaser before taking orders which then could be filled immediately without in my case certainly a 3 month delay!
Mike :( :( :(
Howdy.
When I purchased Oyster Hill I paid with PayPal. That causes an immediate withdrawal of funds from PayPal account or charge to credit card.
Those that paid directly with credit card, was your card charged on order or was your card charged on shipment?
I'm just curious that way.
Jaime
Charged on order.

Mike
Thanks.
I am beginning to "feel the pain" of those waiting on their kit(s).
I don't know what else to say other than I hope resolution comes quickly.
Jaime
I'm drawn like a moth to a flame by this stuff.
I received a notice from PayPal with a USPS tracking number when my Oyster Hill shipped. I've attached below a screen capture of my shipment's history. Perhaps those still waiting on the kit can compare their shipment's history to mine for reference.
Jaime
I would love to compare tracking advice but "our" order is still pending and the kit parts are probably not cut yet.
Mike
Oyster Hill is a kit I didn't order only due to the lack of space to use it once built and no room to store more unbuilt ones.
I've read the past few pages of comments and also feel the frustration from the posts. A slow delivery is no big deal to me; however, the lack of a response to emails concerning an order paid for (and money accepted) will send me over the edge in a heart beat!
Tom 8)
I ordered and paid mine the 6th of November, haven't heard anything so far , I am confident that Doug will send them all , but an email with the estimated shipping date would have been nice , or just an assurance mail saying we are behind a bit but yours is on our list.
And yes I probably won't build it right away , it goes on my pile of other HO kits , so I am in no rush , but as said just an email is all it takes , or knowing that Doug looks into this forum maybe every day a post from him in this thread would be nice.
I agree with Jan. I have ordered perhaps 10 British locos recently. Some I know I will not get for perhaps 2 years because of the backlog in "chinese" manufacturing. In the USA BLI will accept an order and only charge perhaps a $1 to your credit card as a sign of good faith. However though my credit card details have been taken the British vendor has not charged me.
The fact that gets my wife's ire is that she has paid for a FOS kit and 3 months later she has not got anything to show for it.
I know I will get the kit eventually but........
Mike
Mine came in the mail yesterday. Doug sent out a email when they were shipped.
Tom
It's all that Jimmy boy's fault - he's had Dougy tied up chompin' his jaws on an EXPO promotin' podcast! 8) 8) 8)
Subtle - he ain't !!
Sorry, Jimmy - just a test to see if you can take the heat when this cold crap goes away!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Alan,
I got an email on December 31st confirming that my FOS Oyster Hill kit had shipped and as it tuned out it only arrived yesterday. The long delay was due to USPS and I've never had this type of problem with USPS before. However, the good news is the shipping carton arrived undamaged.
Mike, Jaime and Janbouli:
This probably will not make any of you feel any happier but FWIW here's a brief history of my order. I paid for the kit (plus two others I ordered at the same time) on November 4, 2014, using PayPal and received a PayPal receipt of payment email and a separate email from Doug confirming receipt of order and payment along with a FOS order tracking number. I received shipping confirmation emails from both Doug and PayPal on December 31st. The USPS tracking system was intemittant and there was no update available between January 5th through when the package was delivered yesterday. This was unusual compared to my other experiences using the USPS package tracking tool.
I know it's not easy but hang in there, Guys!
Mike, I can understand your wife's frustration but really admire her perseverance. Mine (nearly 44 years, now) would have given up long ago!
USPS problems run deep, and with a lot of finger-pointing and different opinions!

Oyster Hill update...the kit has been shipping as promised, which was late December and early January. While it may seem like a 3 month delay, the advertised date was nearly on time. there have been some postal delays with USPS as mentioned above. And the last two dozen or so kits are being packed up this week; this particular delay is a mixup with a wood order that should be remedied by Monday. So any actual delay from the advertised date is about 2 weeks; for those of you who are getting kits during this period, I am including a free DVD for the wait.
Also if you have any questions about your order, please email me as I don't always get to check the forum. Thanks for your patience.
Regards
Doug

Thanx Doug , this was all I and probably most others were asking for.
That Dougy boy is a purty dern straight feller!!! 8) 8) 8) 8)
Guys,
I wanted to provide an update on my order for Oyster Hill. Doug did get back to me at the end of the week. He admitted there was a problem. My order had been marked as complete and shipped. However, my kit had never been shipped, and there was never a problem at the post office. Had I not said something, I would not have received my kit. Doug immediately shipped out my kit and it is now sitting on my kitchen table. I will tell you that it is going to be a fantastic kit to put together. It's the most excited I've been about any kit in a quite a while. I plan to post pics of my progress on both forums, but I need to get a few other things done in the layout room first (so don't check back on my progress TOO soon :).
Hope you all have a great Sunday!
Mark
Yes , email arrived , package shipped , waiting can now be anything between 2 and 6 weeks ;D
