Can BNSF/CSX be far behind?

I've not seen or heard anything positive about rail service from the customer base since PSR. There sure is next to zero rail served business near me. Yet there are thru trains constantly.

Cloudy humid and warm in the mid Michigan area.

1:1 stuff will dominate today. The shelf repair took most of my day. The Doll soldiered on with first cutting of thehayfield lawn. 950 at times.

It was announced officially at 0700 today that Union Pacific is buying Norfolk Southern  :o   It will be called Union Pacific. Lots of zeros after the $250 in the Railway Age email I read. I should've kept the 4 shares of UP Preferred I bought in high school. I'd be rich!

Well, the 1:1 is piling up. Time to move along.

I'll add some donuts and rolls to the coffee. Too hot to cook :P

Hard work in the 1:1 realm continues.

Speaking of 1:1

There's a lot of zeros in that! Lots of noise probably before it happens.

Have a good morning all!

I was just passing thru earlier, as I am now.  Too much catch up for visiting.  Paid bills, canceled Directv, fueled the mowing machinery, bought supplies to rehang a full closet shelf that fell, had to changed HDMI cables on the PC and now am starting to have a go at repairing the shelf.

Boy do we miss the fiber internet.  20 vs 400 is just so sad. :-\

LarryC, those trumpet flowers sure are pretty, on someone else's property.  Keep it away from the house or it might show up for breakfast some morning :o I had one come 20' up inside the trusses in the garage, right up thru the soffits, burrowed under the house and is in front as well.  :(

Enjoy the day all!!

It's "only" 87 outside. :P

Hazy bright with fuzzy puff ball clouds on the South bound I-75 in Northern lower Michigan as we head home. It's been a good month at Northern Command. Terribly warm day to go home, headed to near 100 heat index.

Jerry it's amazing how quickly our projects can "re-kit" themselves. Hopefully you can preserve it.

Rick, great about your daughter. My place in the Southern Mich is a modular. Well over built from many 'stick built' structures the timeline doesn't seem to bad, unless you're the one waiting. Contractors up by our place are booking jobs halfway into next summer.

Our grand daughter's aunt she lives with bought a new OBD tool and drove up from Lansing to check the car, cleared the code and they drove it home this morning early. Kid ain't too spoiled. Auntie spoils us pretty good, too.

Been getting a running commentary from my driver about what a miserable POS my jeep is

Well that's it for now.

Headed home from the UP, Northern Command is on hiatus.   800 already @ 1100hrs. 50/50 sun and clouds and ~90% humidity. It's been a good month for the most part.

Everyone have a good day.

Bright and hazy sun with heat and humidity the highest we've seen all month here at the original Northern Command.  Planning to head back home tomorrow is the plan for today.  The Doll keeps checking the weather app so she knows just how miserable to feel.  70s feels like 90s already, going to 90 feels >100 tomorrow.  Grand daughter is having an issue with her car, '22 Trail Blazer, a dash light came on after we left Marquette yesterday, ran fine but even after a shut down it's still showing.  Will see if it can be checked at one of the auto parts stores to see what it might have stored.  Puts a crimp into the plans to head home, 5 hours.

They were having the Blueberry Festival in Marquette yesterday, we arrived just after a parade, just in time to encounter a group of angry haters that had been sowing their vitriol with hand made signs and knitted eyebrows.  >:(

It was a nice trip to and from the bunker to the city.

Enjoy the day everyone.  Be safe.

Warm headed to hot in Michigan this morning, quite hazy from the smoke.  Humidity 100%

Oshkosh looks like a good show again this year from a couple of videos I've seen online.  I've watched Flight Aware and have seen numerous planes fly over us with folks avoiding a lake crossing to head to the East or back to Canada.  Saw a Cherokee 6 from California circle past then head out and land at Beaver Island and another California registered plane lining up for Mackinac Island.

PReparations for traveling back home tomorrow will occupy the day.  The Doll has been glued to the weather apps so she knows how miserable to make herself feel with the temps.  Probably the warmest day up here since we arrived at the beginning of July.  We've had a decent time, hindered with my (*^%&* back.  It WILL be way hot tomorrow with 90, and ~100% humidity.(walk in the park weather for youse guys in the South ;) )  The grand daughter took us over to Marquette yesterday and her car. '22 Trail Blazer had a brief hiccup, went into LIMP HOME mode after we'd been to the Yooper Tourist Trap, I think it was hot.  Shut it down for a couple minutes, it reset and ran 'home' here with no further issues.  Marquette has the most of those traffic round abouts of any place i've seen.  :o

Enough from Northern Command.  Be well, stay safe.

Bright and smoky again this morning 670 headed to 750 with chance of some rain.

Had a good walk yesterday down the road here to the Snyder Creek fed by Dead Horse Creek, so the sign says. It's rather dark flowing water, lots of decaying trees and foliage contributing tannins to the water. It looks like tea.

Kere you can see the dark color of another small tributary of similar water as it enters into the big lake from inland, this is just North of my place 2025 07 20_Hidden Shores Test Flight-Vinces Creek-sized.jpg

I worked on the kit as well. Trekked over to the Fishery for a fresh piece of smoked white fish mmm

Not sure of plans today. Everyone have a fine day. Stay cool

The glass in the doors other than smaller ones at the top would be fine for the 1:1 world. However, for a model to see the loco in side, this set up is perfect. I LOVE it.

Tom

I totally agree. Probably think you're going to need some detailing inside, minimalist. I really like that building.
