Nothing to add this morning.  Still cold but 'warmer' but feels damp. ::)

3d project might get some attention.  The Doll is giving up coffee, again, cold turkey as well as Diet Coke, etc.  :-X

Micro progress on the layout.

Mike said,"Karl, congrats on the layout modification.  Are those trestles completed...?"  >:( Don't push me...'completed' well the bents are built but placing and proper support are going agonizingly slow, as I'm making it all up as I go... :P glad no one is looking over my shoulders for sure.  ::)

Did make some micro steps today...

Temp in the 20s. It's been snowing all day since the Doll got her car washed :(  before noon.  We're not hitting freezing yet again. Maybe over the weekend but lots of really cold as well. Just had the news on, the national posers are using frightening superlatives to spread panic and get clicks.  :o

I worked on the layout this afternoon and got chilled. Just about to go give it another hour or two.

Jim the bridge looks great, as does the styrene house going up elsewhere on the forum. Such talent. I have a caboose in the 3d going this afternoon.

Be well all.

Warm up.... KSinMI

Buenos Dias with the breakfast.

Heat wave here this morning, 20+ outside but snow is expected.

Watched a bunch of the NASCAR race from Winston-Salem last evening until FOX decided to switch the race over to FS2 >:( what a bunch of -DELETE- will certainly 'color' my NASCAR viewing back to near zero this year.

Layout efforts dragging along, today I'll get some done.  Hopefully.

Little left here, we do miss Luis in the mornings.

Draw them up and 3d print them...

Dull grey with a flake or two falling, my watch said it was 9o outside.  It will go to the 20s later, maybe.  Headed to 30 sometime this week but briefly.

I managed to move the track and then patched the open areas I had cut.  I also added 1 foot to the layout base before I started the track change.  Now, I have to figure out the land mass under the trestle.  :( I prefer plaster cloth over a webbing of strips of cardboard, made from cut up priority mail boxes.  Then cover that with Sculptamold.  2-3 weeks of that if I get at it.

The Doll went for an eye exam to get new glasses yesterday and ended up with a referral for cataract surgery.  That ought to ball up 6 weeks of time.  She's been spending a lot of time researching genealogical mysteries on the computer and complaining of head aches.  :'( I hope it helps.  My eyes are much better after I had that done last year around this time.  Not perfect but much less use of glasses.  Reading especially is better for me.  Not needing them all the time, leads to me 'losing' them frequently because they are not on my face.  The close up lower bifocal area was poorly placed on my current pair so I rarely use that feature, just the optivisor.

Rick, glad you are able to continue the trek Westward.  I hope it warms up...for all of us.

TomO there sure are lots of ways to lose track of online time.  Facebook seems totally without merit from what I hear from the Doll.  She marvels at the total amount of self discipline of comments folks put out there.  She does stay out of the fray after suffering anguish over political stuff in recent years.  That stuff breads viral hatred I can not believe.

Looking forward to making some progress on the layout.  I do have an Rx to retrieve later.  Just to get the reminder text and phone messages to stop.  :o

That' all I've got for now.  Everyone enjoy the day.

The are single digits on the watch for temps, still chilly for sure.  Grey and light flurry or two in the air.

Time spent on the layout was fruitful.  Soo much more to do.

Late start this morning, looking for an easy breakfast.  :o

Mid 20s and light snow with grey sky the de jour... :(

I managed to splice new track into the cut places on each end of the curve.  Most of the meat of the day, and my ambition was occupied by a sudden gotta get it done yesterday ::)  plunge into throwing together the taxes that wore me out.

Back to the layout(?) is the rough idea for the day, but... :-\ time will tell.

Light snow, grey sky and mid 20s for temps in MI this morning.

Made slight progress on the layout yesterday but putting things together for the tax folks was an impulsive compulsion for the Doll yesterday.

Back to the layout is planned but plans are just rough outlines these days...

Be well all.

Rough idea of my curve move...

IMG_3160.jpeg

The RED indicates cuts and movement.

The GREEN is rough idea of trestle.

The BLUE Arrow the area the Turntable base will return to.

The different elevations don't translate well in the photo. :-\

Someday I'll, hopefully, shut off the mind and fill in the landmasses and run trains.   ???

The buffet is open...

Good morning from the mitten state!  All the morning buffet accoutrements are out on the table.  If you can imagine it, it';s out there.  I couldn't, so it's not enumerated... ;D  Diet Pepsi for Tom and Diet DocP for TomO in Badger country. Make mine Diet Coke...

We have a heat wave in a relative manner today, 30o warmer at 20o and it's all for naught at it is Grey shade #28 and we have a day of snow moving it to add treachery to the potential for any outdoor activity.  :-\

I started a major layout cut and move, a whole 180o curve being cut and moved 6-7" to allow more room for the trestle I have building in the echos of my mind.  I failed to realize the real estate that the bases of the bents take up to make the project feasibility goal.  The process is going ok.  More to do.  I had to totally remove the turntable and roundhouse scene I had roughed in.

Deer sleeping out at the back pine line, they've been very mobile and active lately.  I had one run right up to the edge of the roadway and stop, look around then go back the other way on my way home from OPS. :o good defibrillator.. There are herds/flocks of dozens of them foraging in the fields every day.  Some of the does appear that they were way-laid by one of the bucks back in the fall...it may be a productive Spring as they come full term.

Enjoy the Monday, all.  Be well.

30o warmer :o  this morning, it's a fine blistering 20o with a snow front moving in for most of the day, dull grey sky completes the turn around from yesterday's clear but COLD.  Today will still be cold. :(

I spend a couple hours on the lay out yesterday, took the cutting tools to a large 180o loop and moved it all 6-7 inches straight out to, hopefully give the trestle room to contribute.  I wasn't aware of the width of the 'footprint' of the bents when I got into the project.  In order to accomplish the slice and dice I had to remove the base and support for the roundhouse and turntable I had roughed in.  Plan on more work on that project later.

Enjoy the day all, be safe.

Best with the stones, Rick...you posted while I was composing.  Not fun I'm sure.  This too, shall pass....(poor pun, sorry)

Scratchbuilding / Re: Kanthima's Scratchbuilt Structures

A great start on the magnificent structure.  We've seen numerous houses in Michigan that have a square flat area on the roof where most likely a widow's walk had once been and just removed and covered over.
