Tom get well soon brother and take your time healing (but teach pam how to finish the layout and post so we can see it completed in case you get lazy). ;D

             You are welcome my friend!

Hi all,
Bagman talked about his friend to me over the years, he and his wife used to come to America to visit Stephen and his family and in my home town where I grew up and visited frequently in the past decade and while I never got to meet Stephen, I know what kind of man Bagman is and any friend of his is a friend of mine.

I was sad to hear of his passing and wanting to do something to honor both Stephen and a good dear friend of mine and this came to mind.  If everyone gets a chance you should look up his layout it's published just about everywhere important in this "World's Greatest Hobby".

Bagman is a bloody brillant modeler and that's why he's been published so many times.
                           Thanx Thom...

Rolling Stock / Re: Most detailed HO rolling stock?
« on: September 27, 2021, 10:50:49 PM »
The world of HO is what you make it, if it don't fit- you make alterations.  I say hit two cars with one hobby knife.  Buy up cars that you like and add all the detail you can put on it and you'll have the best of both worlds (modeling and highly detailed cars) and if you mess it up.  No worries, blame it on ACL 1504.  He's usually being blamed for somethin'. :D

Kit Building / Re: FSM Brownsville Depot - 2021 Build Challenge

Hey Swisstrain:

I test built that for George when it came out. It's A beautiful station when done. Your interior looks just grea. Keep the pics coming.

Special K is right, this is a cool station.  Karl built a beautiful model from that kit.  George & I even worked on making a quick adverstising test video to help sell the kit.  Joe Fugate from Model Railroad Hobbyist E-zine still shows the footage here.  I'll be following alone on this build as I know it will be awesome.  Thanx Thom...

It’s amazing. What a sight! Can see John Allen there all day.

Thanks for digging it out for me!

Speaking of John Allen, did you know a highly detailed copy of his layout is being built by Randy Decker from all the great remaining pictures and drawings.  It's really something to see.  Some modern day technology like Dcc will be interjected.
                                                                                                                              Thanx Thom...

These are some of the best pictures of the f&sm I have ever seen!  What a fantastic job you did capturing the layout.  :)
                                                                                                                                                                                               Thanx Thom...

Holy Cow!, this is coming along nicely!  I can see where you've put in some thought on some things and where you're keeping the finished product in mind as you're building.  Great craftsmanship sir!
                                                      Thanx Thom...

ACL 1504,
Ahh, quit your crybabytitysuckin' and man up! You've survived the only disease the world can't seem to shake until there's no more voting on this planet.  Going to get another poke and prod is a cake walk at 75.

I remember some ol' guy said it best in a song  You've got the best medicine the world has to offer (a pretty lady holdin' your hand named Pam).

But hey, if you decide to go beyond that and visit John Allen.  I'm sure he'll be more interested in shakin' your hand and sayin' what a great job you've done since he took his modeling break.

So hurry back and finish your AS posts before someone else out post's you once and for all.

That's really cool!  I think is one fine A&P mechanic.   Thanks for sharing some extra hobby knowledge.
                                                                                                                                                                   Thanx Thom...

ACL 1504,
I'm liking the 1x2's idea, I remember someone building a second layer once before using wider boards.

Baggage Car - Daily Chat / Re: Preiser quality…

My thoughts are similar to what's been discussed so far; about the worn molds etc.  Having said that, it wouldn't surprise me that the ones in the advertisement are possibly the prototypes or professionally cleaned up (de-flashed) and clear coated, even possibly hand painted.

Where in the molding process a worker(s) could simply paint the half molds with paint in the the right places on both sides, the pieces joined and the injection completed and therefore heat melting the paint on the figures and then after cooled, many workers finish hand paint the eyes etc. detail touchups?

Well just my 3-1/2¢ worth here (inflation) ???, Dennis makes a good point as well, I'm curious to look at my figures as well... Hummm? on second thought, I don't really care, because I never really cared before either-so long as I'm not painting figures.  *side note: I bought that big bag of unpainted ones some 20 years ago thinking I'd save some money and after 90 mins of torture and having watched 6-8 jars of paint start to harden up right in the jar with the tops open, I figured let someone else do it.

Question, since someone seemed to notice an advertising and compare to the actual product comparison.  What of buying fast food (yuk, I know) the advertisement looks so perfect and delicious, yet the flat-fake meat sliding off-can't find the special sauce etc. ugh! I've said enough... :-X

Or how about a nice looking engine from a manufacturer that the kid is driving in the advertisement and when we open the box -flip a coin! are the gears cracked?   Point made~
                                                                                                                                                                                                      Thanx Thom...
