It is with great dismay that I announce that Railroad Kits will be opening back up soon only to clear out our remaining inventory. After that, I will cease all operations. This includes FSM casting.

I'd love for the name & brand to continue. I have many, perhaps hundreds of Fine Scale Miniatures castings yet to release, Resin buildings and castings to Pine Canyon Scale Models. The rights to reproduce many of Sheepscott Scale Models biggest & best structure kits.

I am confident that this business can be a fun and profitable one for the right person.

Join me and a bunch of others in Timonium Maryland on Sat & Sun, Oct 26 & 27, 2019 for a craftsman kit weekend of fun! Held in the 3.5 acre fairground Cow Palace building, the Great Scale Model Train and Railroad Collectors Show & Railroad Marketplace is going to be a great time!

I'm putting together the set of castings for Sewall's Foundry #225 and I've come across a door casting to which no mold can be found. Does any recognize this particular wall from any other Fine Scale Miniatures kits? Disregard the smaller skylight casting. That mold was found in kit #205.

Thanks in advance.

 It’s not very often I get mad. I have the greatest life. I’m a paralyzed quadriplegic in a wheelchair, yes. But I have it better than so many other people in this world. I may never walk again, but I’m more of a man than this fraud I’m writing about today. He got to me. I’m angry. He won, but I hope to get the last word in.

I would never, ever, misrepresent anything for financial gain. I will never rip someone off. I make mistakes, and plenty of them. This is an example of someone who could not accept a mistake I made.

I had put together a set of castings for the FSM Fine Scale Miniatures Sawmill set #170 based on a kit I had here in my collection. This kit was made in 1978. It has about 5 different stickers/writing on it with different prices, from various resales over the years. Forty years and at least 5 different owners. Things went missing. Apparently 12 castings.

I listed the first set on eBay in December, incorrectly assuming it was a “Full Set.” I listed them as such. I guaranteed them as such.

As you can see above, I also show a picture of the castings included, and again list them as a “Complete Castings Set” in the eBay ad.

Baggage Car - Daily Chat / FSM Castings - picture requests

Who would like to start taking pictures of their FSM kit casting sets? I would like to start organizing castings by kit numbers. What I'm hoping for is 1-or-2 pictures with all the castings laid out. HELP!
Thank you in advance.

The Expo is just a month away. Crazy days ahead for the crew. Have a great day. I'm going back to sleep.

Don't post anything you really care about this morning!

I don't care about basketball, or baseball. Or brussel sprouts.

Don't blame me! I wasn't touching anything I'm not supposed to.

I hope you all have a great day. I need to figure out why this line of code is triggering an error...

        // Start up the session URL fixer.

        if (!empty($settings['output_buffers']) && is_string($settings['output_buffers']))
            $buffers = explode(',', $settings['output_buffers']);
        elseif (!empty($settings['output_buffers']))
            $buffers = $settings['output_buffers'];
            $buffers = array();

        if (isset($modSettings['integrate_buffer']))
            $buffers = array_merge(explode(',', $modSettings['integrate_buffer']), $buffers);

        if (!empty($buffers))
            foreach ($buffers as $function)
                $function = trim($function);
                $call = strpos($function, '::') !== false ? explode('::', $function) : $function;

                // Is it valid?
                if (is_callable($call))

Everyone... this is marked JS19. Help! Any idea what kit this brick wall casting is from?

I was wondering who I'll be seeing there? This is a show not to be missed!

LOL!  ;D
I know this forum has more F&SM photo's than just about anywhere... but...
I'm trying to identify castings. I could really use some "LARGE' pics of JS-5 Baxter's Building Supply. Larger than the forum allows posting.

If you could email me any you have, t'would be fantastic and I'd be grateful.

Baggage Car - Daily Chat / Anyone near Hilton Head SC?

I got this email requesting help...

I'm wondering if you could give some guidance/direction relative to finding a few train enthusiasts who are experienced at model railroad disassembly.  My husband recently passed away and his HO collection is extensive;  his display extends 150' - if stretched end to end.  My desire is to hire people to disassemble it and pack it for moving and storage.  I plan to have it reassembled sometime in the future.  Do you know anyone you could recommend?  I appreciate any help you can give.
Best regards,
Theresa Thomas

The check cleared. ( :o wipes sweat off forehead) A deal almost a year in the making. Lots of back-and-forth. Lots of ups-and-downs.

You heard it here first. I've been blessed to be given the opportunity to take possession of the 50 years of masters, 1000+ molds, and everything related to casting those fabulous little details from the man himself, George Sellios. The fine scale miniatures portion of those beautiful Fine Scale Miniatures will continue.

I thought any possibility of this happening was gone, and that a giant in the business would probably end up with everything. Then George & I talked at a show recently. There are only a small number of people he was offering this to. I was one of them. Wake me up, I must be dreaming.

Doug Foscale & Robert Seckler drove up to Peabody in December to see everything for me, and catalog the contents. Hal Reynolds was there for me too, but he didn't drive there. I think he walked. (Okay, it was probably more for a private tour of the F&SM and not so much for me and a pile of old molds circa 1967.)

As for the permission to rerun some past structure designs in our agreement, he wouldn't hear it. If George Sellios says "Limited Edition" - that's it. No amount of money would sway him. He's indeed a man of his word who values his customer trust, even in his retirement.

So stay tuned as I hire a rigging company to move the heavy machinery I got in this deal-of-a-lifetime. Do you know how much a "mold vulcanizer" weighs?

A very happy JimmyD

It might not look like much to you, but to me these long-since-forgotten-about molds deep in the basement below the F&SM are like Fort Knox gold...
