I just got back on my Brownsville Depot build and can't find detail card number 1.  Either I never got it or it fell behind the workbench or something.  I did get two complete sets of instructions with the kit.  George has never shorted me on any of the kits I have bought from him. :) ;)   Can someone take a picture of the card number 1 from their kit and either post it or email it to me. I have a question and it appears the answer is on on card 1.  Thank you in advance.

Good morning! We had 40 degree temperatures, yesterday. It melted a lot of snow, I had a serious river running down my driveway. I'm making the coffee and heading into the train room for the day. It sure beats working for a living.  I hope everyone has a great day.

Baggage Car - Daily Chat / Air Brush Painting with Acrylic Paints
« on: January 09, 2021, 02:19:10 PM »
So I'm in the middle of brush painting 87 window and door castings with acrylic craft paint and just started cleaning up the resin castings that also need to be painted with craft paint, for my build challenge.  My air brush collection has not been used since I made the switch from Floquil paints to acrylic paints a few years back. Well, I did try once unsuccessfully to paint with acrylics a few years back. I have decided that going to just rattle cans for my spray painting needs is not cutting it. So I thought I would tap the knowledge base of the forum.  A quick search of the internet was overwhelming and thought I would see if those of you that have experience with air brushing acrylic craft paints would share your knowledge.  I'm looking for your tips and techniques and any reference sources you think would be helpful, since you all know what I'm trying to paint. Thank you in advance for your help.

For the 2021 build challenge I have chosen the SRMW Tucker & Cook Cotton Mill.  I plan to build it as a Crew Quarter's for my Superior & Seattle Railroad. Let the fun begin - the box is coming down off the shelf.

Baggage Car - Daily Chat / Mailbox color in the 1940's
« on: November 18, 2020, 03:46:10 PM »
I need some help finding a thread.  I remember reading a great discussion on mailbox colors in different time periods.  I actually copied the link but it seems to be gone.  I have a bunch of mailboxes that I want to be from the 1949 timeframe and need to choose a color.  I know that blue like they are now is wrong and if a remember correctly it was a shade of green that I was looking for. Does anyone remember the thread or have the information?

Baggage Car - Daily Chat / I need help with a supply problem
« on: October 16, 2020, 12:38:24 PM »
I just went through the supplies I need to buy for my next couple of builds.  I'm down to my last 1/4 bottle of Hunterline Driftwood Stain. ::)  Rick is still having problems getting alcohol up in Canada because of the COVID-19 crisis, so he is out of production right now.

Can anyone sell me a bottle or let me replace it when Rick gets back in production?  I thought maybe someone on the forum might have an extra bottle on the shelf that they would not get to for a few months. Please send me a PM if you can help.

Good morning. After 2 days of planting trees it wasn't easy getting out of bed this morning. I have Grandpa duty today so I get to try those sore muscles out playing on the floor. ;)  It keeps me young right.  ::) I hope everyone has a great day.

Good morning!  The coffee is on! I'm on Grandpa duty this morning so I got up early when my son-in-law went to work.  It is sure nice to be back spending time with the kids and family.  I hope everyone has a great day.  Stay safe.

I have a number of photographs of forum members caught admiring the F&SM over the years during the photo shoots we did to create the pictures in these threads.  I will be adding them to this thread as I find them. If you see a picture that you would prefer that I delete - send me a PM and I will send it to the bit bucket.

Good morning! We are still enjoying all day rain. We had one day in the last 5 that was dry. We will take it over the snow. I hope everyone has a great day and gets some time at their workbench working on a model instead of working for a living.
