Kit Building / Durham water putty
September 30, 2021, 04:20:52 PM
How long do you wait after making a concrete slab with the Durham water putty before painting with a floquil aged concrete? I've drawn the lines and scribed them, just not sure how long I have to wait before painting and weathering.
Thanks

Layout Tours / My Layout Venture
September 17, 2021, 08:14:16 PM
Hi folks I thought I would finally get around to showing what I've been upto for the past few years. My layout stretches out into two rooms. I've just gotten to the point where I finished filling in the base so thought I can hopefully get my imagination in gear and figure out some elevations for scenery, I find this very difficult to do when I have so many structures yet to build.

Rolling Stock / Broke the couplers
December 21, 2020, 03:23:01 PM
Hi folks, had a bit of an accident testing my rails and running the cmx cleaner. How do I replace these couplers on these Bachman's? From what I've read , there not fixable. As you can see the gear box is gone on the one. I have some new kaydee couplers but have never done this before. I'd appreciate even a good YouTube link. Thanks

Kit Building / brushes for fine details
September 30, 2020, 06:44:06 PM
Hi everyone, I'm in need of some new very fine detail brushes and looking to the people with experience for their thoughts on good quality brushes. I've tried good brushes from Michaels and they just don't seem to last, the little strands start going there own way. Frankly I wouldn't know the differnce from a great brush to a good brush. I will be having to paint some small HO scale people  so figure some great brushes are in need.
Thanks for all information.

Kit Building / Foss Landing Build
April 03, 2020, 04:20:31 PM
Hi guys , off work for another 2 weeks in isolation so thought I'd jump into the Foss Landing build.

I started with the walls with nail holes and roughing the walls a bit but nail holes seemed to disappear following Bretts instructions.

Kit Building / metal castings
March 28, 2020, 07:07:14 PM
Hi guys , I have lots of catching up to do , looks like everyone has been busy.
I have a question about metal castings, what is the purpose for using Jaxx on them , is it just to give them some bite for the priming paint?

Kit Building / FSM Bailey's Produce Co.
April 08, 2018, 10:25:51 PM
Hi Everyone
Time to open up another Kit thread, this one will be the FSM Bailey's Produce Co. kit.
Anyone else that has this kit and wishes to join in please do ( Karl ). ;D

Ok I started off opening the kit and thought wow whats with all the folded instructions and I realized George broke down this build nicely into big fold out instructions A - E, a bit intimitating but very thorough.
And so I start ... you can see there are templates that need to be cut out and glued to the walls for laying shingles, not as easy as it looks because you have to make sure all the lines are going to lineup or the shingles whon't meet wall to wall, so I did my best and it came out pretty good.

Kit Building / Jaxx pewter black
March 17, 2018, 10:50:04 PM
From experience does the Jaxx Pewter Black loose its blackening strength over time and reuse? I need to get a pint and will be using and after use probably pouring back in container or at least I'm pretty confident it can be poured back in for next time use.
Thanks

Kit Building / FSM Pile Driver #105
March 16, 2018, 10:47:53 AM
Hi Guys , after following along with postalkarls build I thought I may show some of my own build I'm working on.
As you can see I added a bit more bracing than required , not only to avoid the dreaded warpage from playing with the A/I and Rembrant chalks but also it helped for setting up the deck with the glue.
I work shift work so I tend to try to do a bit ( sometimes rushed ) and run off to work letting it setup overnite.

Kit Building / Pounce wheel
September 06, 2017, 11:52:47 PM
Hi
I seem to have misplaced the third of a set of three pounce wheels I had from Dr Ben's and so need a new one. I see Amazon has several but not directly described for using in Ho , yes I'm in Ho. Can you's please tell me which in the Excel line I would be wanting for building in Ho ?
Thanks
Lynn
