Dioramas / Re: tiny corner

Great. Watch gears are so finely wrought they always look good. I didn't know you could buy them, I just took apart a couple of old, cheap watches that we had. Can't get much out of digital stuff!!

Hobby creation or art? I love it when the boundaries get blurred.

Coming late to the party, after 18 months with no modelling mojo, I have to say ths is exceptional modelling but the colouration is what sets it apart. Outstanding

Darryl, love the model, especially the surface treatment.  I like to mix my hobbies, I just finished a song about the dustbowl with a friend in Hawaii.  Have a listen if you are so inclined  Regards from the UK Barry

Dioramas / Re: An English N-Scale Diorama

Martin, Not sure how "English" you want to make it but we don't have many large wooden industrial or even residential structures and don't use shingles this side of the pond. An easy fix for roofs would be n scale tile or slate paper with brick paper for walls, cheap and available from the UK.

It's nice to see the old fashioned, common or garden card in a scratchbuild.  Not fashionable these days but a tremendous, pretty well free material source and easy to work with.

Super Detailing / Re: Catching up on details

Ah Bando If I only knew the answer...

Dave it's simply grey acrylic car primer from Halford's (a UK car bits retailer). I alternate between Grey, White and Red Oxide. Only have Grey and White at the mo.  I was spraying with a rattle can outside on the deck and it started to drizzle so some spots got a drop of rain too. Doesn't matter too much as these are mainly background fillers and a coat of brushed on craft acrylic will cover a multitude of sins.  I do need now to go on a spending splurge on some foreground details but the boss hasn't sanctioned the  expenditure yet.  Mmmmm wine and roses perhaps.........

Super Detailing / Catching up on details
October 07, 2019, 08:45:22 AM
A bit like Mr Sellios I tend to use up detail castings etc at a rate of knots. For years my unfinished details have been nagging at me to attend to them and being limited by my wrist issues I decided to kill a few birds with one stone.
1.       Unearth all those bits of scrap that can be made into industrial clutter and empty all my little boxes and bags with castings/unfinished small kits etc.
2.       Clean up, assemble, prime and paint and store them all where I can get at them easily.
3.       This frees up no end of space for completed details, bulks up my usable details boxes and makes me feel better.
Result!

The first tranche gets the primer treatment

Impressive work, Graffen. My favourite Swedish word "Skol!"

Thanks George & Greg.  I still can't handle much in the way of major modelling projects still outstanding thanks to the trashed Radial nerve in my right hand but small items like this keep my hand in. (No pun intended)

Thanks all, unfortunately I shot the photos under LED light only and it looks a lot redder than it actually is.  That aside it was fun to create something that can be slipped into one of my mining or industrial areas with little trouble and that cost nothing much in terms of hobby cash.

Scratchbuilding / Detailed Microscene for next to nowt
October 04, 2019, 02:33:02 PM
With an hour to spare and idle hands I decided to make a miniature scene with as much unpaid for scrap as I could.  I found a picture on Google images that said "Do it" so I used that as inspiration.
