Good morning all.

Sunny and less cold in Cleveland this morning. Hope the post office brings my package today...why did they think that Cincinnati was on the direct route from Wisconsin to Cleveland? and after blaming everything on the winter storms, why has the PO taken another four days to go from the 'regional facility' in Cleveland to my carrier's substation?

Fire up a steam engine if you have one. Anything to keep warm!

Morning all! Still quite cold and snowy here in Northern Ohio. The sun is making an appearance, though.

Saw this Gondola last week. What I want to know is: If this were a model on your layout, would you load it with Skittles?

Most of us who are modelers are fascinated by the real thing, those great prototypes of today and yesteryear. Preservation helps us connect with the real thing, and if we're lucky enough to be close to such efforts and can assist in them, that's a real plus for our modeling endeavors. What about a section for preservation?

Naturally, new voices might have some ideas along these lines. I think this is worth pursuing!!

Welcome to all the new visitors. Make yourselves at home and help us grow!

Morning all,

Last Saturday of the year. Here's a pic for Mr. Critter. Here in Cleveland, our little Plymouth is pulling No. 62 onto the turntable. We also have a trackmobile that can be used. No. 62 is the famous 'Death Car,' a Nickel Plate coach that in 1943 was involved in a horrific accident. Look it up if you're interested.

Good morning, Bob.  Safe travels in your northward journey.

Good morning, Mr. Critter, and welcome. Always happy to see new faces on the board.

Good morning, all. Enjoy the last few days of the year.

Jim,

No apology needed. The facts of history are what they are, and heaven help us if we fail to heed them, or bury them under the guise of not offending someone. The state of Florida has been buying textbooks for students that claim that native tribes were "persuaded" to move to Oklahoma, but do not explain why the move is known as the "Trail of Tears."

I could go on, but the people who need to hear it aren't reading our posts.

Quote from: Jim Donovan on November 22, 2024, 08:49:00 AMGood Morning Folks;

Not sure how many here are following world events but one of my pastimes is history and what I am seeing in Europe is scary. If you substitute the word Ukraine for Czechoslovakia and Russia for Germany we are reliving 1938-39. .

Jim, I agree with you, even though it seems that politics is often verboten here on the Forum.

My Dad had a business colleague at 'The' Ohio State University whose childhood years were spent in an American internment camp, you see, he was born to Americans of Japanese ancestry. This is the kind of history not taught in our schools. While we were 'protecting' the country from spies and saboteurs, the homes, businesses and farms of these citizens were repossessed by their neighbors and so-called friends. Will we soon see another chapter in this saga in the name of 'protecting' us from the dog-eating immigrants?

The voting may soon be over, but then comes the shouting...Oh, well

Morning everyone. Saw this ad online. what's neat is that I've seen the real loco carrying this bicentennial scheme on the branch line near my house. I'm very tempted...

Quote from: deemery on September 02, 2024, 09:17:28 AMIt's coming up on the 80th anniversary of Market-Garden, second half of September.  As a cadet, I had a couple weeks as a "3rd LT" with a unit in 82 Abn.  We went to see "A Bridge Too Far" as a 'training event' after spending a week in the field.

My wife's stepfather was a Murphy from St.Cloud, FL. His brother K.O. was in the fighting at Arnhem. K.O. later served as Sheriff of Osceola County.

Morning, all...

Last night we got a river cruise, with freighters and steel mills and bridges. These bottle cars were hot out of the furnace :
