I modeled an old grain elevator for my layout and decided to model the house across the street from it. Here is a shot of it:

I used that as an inspiration but it needed to be slightly more "liveable".

Getting started with some clapboard over thick cardboard:

Windows,doors, and subroof in place:

Finished up with shingles, chimney, vents, window treatments, weathering, etc..
Aluminum awnings in place:

The roof shingles were made from 800 grit wet/dry sandpaper and the doors (front and back) were pictures of actual doors I resized and put wood frames around:

Test fit:

Final scene:

Street out front...those are my wife's and my initials in the heart.......what can I tell ya  ;)

All in all it was a very fun and satisfying build. I know that there was more that could have been done to make this house more realistic, but my modeling time is very limited and I am not a big stickler for 100% realism (although I love to see better modelers than myself achieve it)  :D

Thanks for looking in

Did you ever notice how many towns are named after their water towers ! ?

I remember that build. I still think the window blinds are a great touch.

Love the awnings and the street "chalk".

Looks good, the drip stains under the windows is a good detail.

Modeling the Northeast in the 1890s - because the little voices told me to

Thanks guys!  :)
Being new, I just wanted to post a couple of things I've done. I'll try and post proper build threads as I do new stuff.
I did this house and scene about 6 years ago. I was building pretty steady at that time but I have slowed down quite a bit over the last several years with my modeling (too many other things going on  ;) ) but when I get going I usually bust out a few projects at least.

Thanks again!!
